I think it is a ridiculous idea to let someone under the age of 21 drink... military or not. Heck, some people can't handle it at twice that age!
Coming from a military family and growing up on several bases here and abroad, alcohol is the last thing we need to be handing to these young soldiers.
I think it's an excuse for the VA to slack on their responsibility of helping those cope (with the situations our soldiers have to go through).
And as one has said... it doesn't matter what they pass here. The Commander has the final say so.

Im an Air force Security Forces member (cop), i just got back from Saudi Arabia. and i cant buy a drink because im 19. apparently im good enough to get blown up, but not good enough to relax and drink a beer.

hey i a soldier and 18 myself in south carolina. If anyone wants to drink thats over 13 is going to do it anyway. It not going to stop dui or anything like that. The only thing that will charge is 18year soldiers wont go to jail when they get caught

That will not change whether they lower it or not.
