Worst Neigborhoods in Greenville

I would like to know what neighborhoods in the Greenville/Greer area have noticeable drug deals in the street, A neighborhood I drove through recently, minutes from downtown, I witnessed several drug deals (crack I assume) in broad daylight. This is not a big city - relative to Atlanta - and to have this in our community bothers me. Please be specific - I would like to compile a list to bring to council - possibly with survalance photos. If anyone can help with neighborhood and street intersection information I would appreciate it.

Off of Laurens Road close to the J Jackson projects and the neighborhoods behind there. Worked in that area for 5 yrs. I saw a lot of it on a daily basis.

one more thing....you would be amazed of the crime that goes on in Greenville on a Friday and Saturday night. Only a small portion made it in the paper. Also, I had a cop tell me once to never, ever have your wife or kid park in the garage parking lot at the mall after dark if they are alone.
We miss Greenville...overall, very nice to raise a family.

thanks T, I believe that's actually where i was - over near washington street. I know there are places in Greer as well and the West side of town off White Horse road. I'd like to get video from my car of people pulling up and making the deal. Just to make the point of how how easy it is - I think some don't believe unless they see it. I'd like different parts of the county - any help with neighborhood information and street names/corners would be appreciated.

Although I have no proof, I would say White Horse Road would be a perfect example for drug deals just based on some "suspicious" activity I myself have witnessed. I believe that prostitution is a major issue as well. I would have never thought that prostitution would be taking place around here until I took a friend of mine to look at a house off of White Horse road about a month ago. We saw a middle-aged woman dressed inappropriately hanging in the passenger side of a vehicle. We were both positive that she was soliciting,not only by the way she was dressed but in her body language. The worst part- there is a school nearby, I believe it was Carolina High??

Anyone ever heard of Sunnyside Community in Greer. I think it's near the Walmart on Wade Hampton - this project housing neighborhood is apparently worse than the old Jesse Jackson Townhomes.

In response to Citizen concerning your question about drug deals in the streets of Greer;
I live on McDaniel Avenue and unfortunately have witnessed several drug deals literally "in the street" without much concern for who notices them.
We have traffic all day long going in and out of the home of the individual that is selling the stuff, people walking, riding bikes, cars, etc.
Everyone sees it but nothing is done about it, he is not only a drug dealer, he is a problem creator, he intentionally harasses the neighborhood dogs and then curses them loudly with no concern of who is hearing this mess, no wonder our children have dirty mouths, they learn it from the protected criminal element. Sorry, just sick of it all.

You want to stay away from the westside of greenville. High in crime. Consider Travelersrest, although a little off set the place is safe and a great community to raise a family. Beware some parts of white horse road also. Anderson street, etc

Some of the worse areas in Greenville are within the city limits. Drugs and prostitution can be had in many areas from the north around to the west and south side of the city. From Wade Hampton west to Rutherford Rd and south to Augusta St. As law enforcement pressures have increased in these areas the problems are gradually moving farther out ot the center of the city in to the county.

yea you guys set up here and talk about drug dealers and prostitutes ,just because a lady was dressed like she was a prostitute doesn't mean that she was selling her body. how can you judge somebody on their appearance? that whats wrong in greenville to many of you hippocrytes here won't give us no job because of where we live look down on us for every little thing that we do. we do this to support our families because greensville has a messed up system we ought to be back in slavery because if you don't have the money like some of you big wigs here in greenville instead of looking down on us give us a helping hand give us a chance maybe some of this drug dealing and prostitution would be resolved. so stop trying to make it out that we are bad people because people are just trying to feed their families. you stick us in these situations and talk down on us when people are trying to survive. our people have been held down for so long to be talked about like we are useless.

Here we go gang! Once again, a simple question has raised the "poor me, look what you have done to us" pity attitude. LIVINGPROVERTY..(I guess that's how you spell POVERTY...mispelled words are "our fault as well?")...keeps referring to "us"...who is "us"? Let me guess! But then again I won't, because the I'll be a racist, which is a big no-no because I do not want to be around those people making a shady living! I guess it pays off very well....LIVINGPROVRTY has a computer to bitch about their life and probably has 24" rims on a piece of crap car that annoys every quiet neighborhood in beatiful downtown Greenville. Yep, no pity here either! As for the original post....I'm sure EVERYONE would love to be far away from "those" people, as they are a self-desrtructive society that we all have to pay for....If the shoe fits, wear it!!

I have to say that I disagree with LivingProperty. I made a decision to go to college... total financial aid and all... had to get a job to pay the cost of living. I don't regret it and I damn sure wouldn't trade it for a hustla's life. I'm in debt to my eyeballs but I would rather be this way than taking a chance at going to jail.

I make very good money now and try to steer my friends to a better way of living.

As far as bad neighborhoods... I would have to say every neighborhood has a bit of bad in them. The worst that I have seen is back behind the KMart by Greenville Memorial. Past Dunean.

My husband and I are starting the home buying process, and well I was wondering if anyone knows about the area for the school district that JL Mann is in. We are looking at a house on Mayo Drive.

Anyway I also would like to say I agree with Mind over matter. We all make choices. I was raised by a single mother, and I am currently in college (I married young). Our circumstances don't determine our choices in life. WE choose where we go and what we do.

I'm kinda confused on why you would seem to be proud to be out there dealing dope to some kids. It baffles my mind to see how open people can be about being criminals. As for the original question, I would start down Green Ave and maybe in San Suci.
