Any information about when this poem, Apologia, was published in the Taylorsville Forum.

Not for the flash of anger,
Not for the words said,
But for the soul's sick languor
Do I hang my head

I weep for the friendship broken
The letter never sent,
The word of praise unspoken,
The hoard of love unspent.

I don't know if you'll ever see this, but I want to thank you for posting this! I have been searching for this poem for years. My grandmother had it written on scraps of paper in several places around her house. I do not know the source or when she first read it though. Thank you again!

My mother cut it out of the newspaper, and put it in a tiny little frame, that she made herself from scraps of things she had around the house. She lived from 1905 to 1995. I asked for it as a keepsake after her death, since it so closely described that dear woman's heart. The frame is corroded with rust now. But the words were never truer.
