I think they are a cple years back it seemed like there was a big bust every week for a cple months, and since then i think the drugs have really slowed down, you dont hear about them nearly as much as we once did.

I'm sorry, I have lived in many small towns and Taylorsville is the ONLY one where I have ever seen Granny get busted for selling crack.

The grocery store is one of the few things good about Taylorsville. The commute for work from Mt. Washington is the same. Perhaps if you spend less time being negative and screwing off on topix you might find a job!!!!!!!!!!lol

I've lived in Taylorsville for 3 years with my small children. I'm sure there are drugs but being a parent I don't surround myself or children with people who do drugs(ss most good parents do). The grocery store is expensive but staffed with very nice people, I go there a few times a month inbetween shopping trips or when I don't want to drive to walmart or kroger. My step children go to Spencer County Middle School, after having my 12 year old stepson living with us this year I have found that either the schooling isn't the greatest or his mother never actually worked with him in the previous years, or a mixture. I think with any school district there will be issues, teachers are nice and communicate with me daily. Is just wish the spelling and language arts classes were alittle more demanding for him! over all I love the town!

We moved to Taylorsville 2-1/2 years ago from out of state. We really like it here. We have read about the meth problem, but haven't been touched by it personally. Crime is very low. The people are really friendly. I wish we had more choices for grocery and other shopping, but you can get most of what you want in nearby Mt. Washington or Shelbyville. It's very nice small town country living.

I hate that people give such a bad name to Taylorsville. It all depends on who you surround yourself with. I have never encountered the drugs here in this town. I do have to agree that the school system is horrible. I would never ever send my children to the schools in SC and choose to send them to a private school (CAL). If you are going to be working in the Louisville area, groceries won't be an issue. I usually do my shopping at the Kroger off Taylorsville road, but I do like the sales Country Mart has. I occasionally shop there but sometimes they can be expensive. Hope this helps!

Check out fisherville too! We almost moved there since its closer to Louisville but still has the "country feel". I personally think Taylorsville is a very friendly town. Do you know people in the area?

I have been in Spencer County all my life! Taylorsville is NOT a bad town. The schools are not great. But the city police are awesome. Toby Lewis is the cheif and he love his hometown and takes very good care of us! Groceries are expensive every where! Country Mart has the nicest staff and always so helpful and good to the community! They are a fully stocked grocery and if they dont have what you need they wll do their very best to get it! Very personal service thats what keeps me going back! Its a great town to retire in I think! Crime is everywhere but our police are all over it! Most of us in Taylorsville have the cheifs cell phone number and are his friend on facebook he is easy to get in touch with! Please consider making us your home! We will welcome you with open arms!

The schools in Spencer County are the worst in the state! If I could afford to put my kids in private school, I would. Everybody in the schools are related to each other. They let the kids do anything they want to do. The tail is wagging the dog.

I think CAL has financial aid, so maybe you can check into the school. I agree the schools are horrible.
