while reading about this story online, i found three other DUI wrong way accidents that took place in the LA area over the past week. i think an easy solution to this problem would be to put wrong way spike strips on freeway onramps, like how parking lots have. even if the driver is too impaired to realize all four of his tires have been shredded, the car will not be able to travel at any real rate of speed, which would siginificantly reduce the carnage if an accident were to still happen.

yes, you are 100% right. but we all know that is never going to happen. just like outlawing guns wont stop people from killing each other. perhaps harsher penalties (although they are already pretty harsh) are needed. it takes incidents like this to wake people up. sadly, many forget or dont think it will happen to them. its only when it hits close to home that people truly realize the magnitude of such negligence.

Our beautiful daughter was killed by a drunk driver in Texas the same way 4 weeks ago. She had just celebrated her 21st birthday! Something has to be done about this sick epidemic!! If anyone on here knows the Moss family..PLEASE let us know! Sadly we now share the same grief and maybe.. just maybe we can get through this together! We found out about this because it was posted on our daughter's facebook group page under "My Ashleah" that a friend of hers started after her death. Here are a few links about our daughters story...

She's dead. Hector caused her death. People that knew Hector was drunk or had been drinking are indirectly responsible too. I hope Hector suffers forever or he leaves soon too. Not too many will care if he was a "nice" person. It won't solve anything but it sure would make many people feel better. More people will die like this. Alot of people like me will wake up tomorrow and forget this story. I would vote for an automatic life sentence or death penalty against anyone who drinks, drives, and then kills another human being. DUI's should be a felony. Carrying a concealed weapon without the proper permits is. Justice will not be served in this case.

I drive the freeways quite frequently and one thing I have noticed for the past few years or more is we hardly see the CHP patroling the freeways any longer. They should be out in force during nights like this.

However this worthless excuse for a human being is the only person responsible for this young girl's death. Anyone who drives drunk should be held accountable for their actions, no more slap on the hand.

What happened was a horrible event but it should be known that this college student had been known to spout a lot of anti Hispanic sentiment. Anyways locking Hector up and throwing away the key is not going to bring her back no matter how hard you want it to. I would like to send my prayers to the Moss and Hector's family as well. Stay strong Hector.

You are a liar. Taylor had many friends and family members who were Hispanic along with many other races. She was far from prejudice, she was an angel! Why don't you let this family have some peace while they grieve and leave your ignorant comments in the gutter where they belongs. You are a creep go hang out with Hector where your prayers really are!
Rest in Peace Taylor! You were and are in Heaven a fine example
of what the youth today should strive for!

who do you think you are? who do you think you know? you know nothing, mean nothing and should really try to rely on your brain before you open your mouth (or your fingers to type) with such disgusting nonsense. there is one victim here. ONE.

That's a start. However, a DUI without an injury is not. DUI should be upgraded to felony regardless of whether an injury was involved or not. An automatic life sentence for death caused by DUI. Many of us don't carry concealed weapons or shoot people for a reason, severe consequences. DUI consequences are a little harsh, but not good enough. Earlier I stated I would forget about this, I take it back. Maybe I'll contact MADD and see if I can make a difference.

I'm Hispanic. Irrelevant. Anti-Hispanic sentiment? What in the world does this have to do with her death by DUI? Locking up the driver forever would make many many people feel good and warm inside, including me. But that won't happen. "I would like to send my prayers out...." how sweet....save them. They won't do any good either. Hector: I hope the justice system makes your life unbearable. I hope her friends and relatives never forgive, never forget and never stop reminding you that you took someone's life. Repayment to the Moss family for your actions will never be enough. I hope you live a long, miserable life. Death would be too good for you.

Why do you quote that radical MADD corporation in your story? They consistently distort the drunk driving statistics for one thing and they are also paid off by the car manufacturing lobby. Their meddling has not reduced drunk driving fatalities one iota since their existence 20 years ago regardless of what they might tell you. As long as the State continues to license the sale of alcohol to drivers whether it be in sportsbars, stadiums, restuarants, whatever, there will be intoxicated drivers every night. It's just part of our culture and no matter how many unlucky saps get zapped by the almighty breathalyzer, people are still going to continue to be slaughtered on the highways. Sorry bout that!
You are so right on about this one...I feel that IF you do not have bars and restaurants sporting events and other places, selling alcohol all night long there would be less Drunk Drivers....It is stupid that we go to a place for children and see people drinking and acting like fools....Chuck-e-cheese is one of them, where a kid can be a kid and you can watch your mommy and daddy get a buzz!!! These people then put their kids in the car and drive home..why do they sell beer and wine here?? I think it is stupid. one time we were there and this man was soooo drunk that he was cussing at the top of his lungs in front of all the little kids at a Birthday party and the Manager was scared of him and the people in his group that he didn't do anything, when I asked him why he was letting this man get out of control he said, well, I can't discriminate against anyone...I said you can kick him out for drunk and disorderly..he said he could not because they could make a claim against CEC..I left and made the complaint to CEC, the Manager was written up and made to give us back the money we had spent because we had left and our kids did not get to enjoy themselves...CEC said the Manager should have called the cops!
I always wonder if that jerk drove his kids home...

The state has not gotten tough enough on drunk drivers to make a difference. this POS (who cares what race he is)needs to be locked up for the rest of his life! also the place that served him needs to be held accountable also.

My prayers are with the family...Taylor is with the angles now.

With all of the wrong way drivers, Drunk or not, I feel the same way..put something on the ramps to prevent wrong way driving, I HAVE NEVER driven buzzed or drunk, I don't drink anymore but when I drank even one beer I knew the car was off limits!
I have seen wrong way driving accidents where the driver was not drunk, it was because of the confusing signs...and at night sometimes you can't see the sign that say's "do not enter" or whatever it say's, so your Idea is a good one, how much could it cost the state to do that?

I responded to some earlier posts before I saw the rest of them.
I am shocked how many of you people are making this a race thing, it is not a race issue it is a DRINKING AND DRIVING ISSUE...In this melting pot America, there are Drunk drivers of all races...yet you narrow it down to hispanics, like they are the only one's that drive drunk, get into accidents and kill people...
I do not care if this guy was yellow, white, brown or green....he chose to drink and drive and cause a death, that makes him a A POS...But some of you are just WRONG,
had Taylor been a Latina and this guy had been white you would not have anything to say, some of you(and you know who you are) would have said something stupid like "oh well one down a million more to go"..I have seen it on here before! you Idiots come on here to make whatever happens where a Hispanic is involved a racial thing..."oh they are Illegal or a anchor baby" enough already!
This was a horrible thing that happened to Taylor and her family, I don't think they are looking at it as Racial, they don't seem like that type of people, from what the Mother has said. I think they look at it only as they lost a beautiful soul and a great daughter and sister from a pos drunk driver. My heart is with them in this time of sorrow.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Scorpio

Be careful how you handle a certain someone today because their mood is little short of incendiary. They'll jump down your throat if you dare to disagree with them, and then accuse you of being a wimp if you decide that it would be better to agree with everything they say. You can't win! If they really get on your wick, you'll have to give them a piece of your mind, even if it is supposed to be the season of goodwill to all men. Huh!
