Had we been 'managing' our forests instead of 'protecting' them they would have remained healthy. I find it funny that it has come back to bite the environmentalist is the a**. And lets not forget to mention the fact the 'Old Growth' is what has to be removed now with there being no 'new growth' to take it's place for many years since it was all removed as 'understory'.

The loggers have known this for years but nobody wanted to listen to them. They were simply considered 'forest destroyers'. Well, in the end who ended up really destroying our forests?

they say that back in the day, the forests were thin enough to ride a horse through, or pull a wagon...and now look at what years of suppression has resulted in. I say let the fires burn, and screw the people who choose to live up there if they don't have the smarts to create defensible space and fend for themselves when the fires come. Catastrophic fire would be a very good thing for our forest ecosystem, as would salvage logging. Too many clueless city folk moving to the hills with the "NIMBY" attitude to go along with it.

I honestly thought this topic would generate more interest. Strange that it hasn't.
