That first clause, "If you've ever wondered why most cows look basically the same .... " is one of the stupidest thoughts ever penned. Do most humans look the same? Basically? Do most cats look the same? Basically? Is that why we have the collective noun "cats"? Let's just say it's a wacky quirk of evolution that sooooooo many species or phyla or whatever they're called look the same as other members of their class. Birds? Does anyone have a tough time distinguishing birds from "cows"? Or wonder why birds don't look like cows? Can you imagine being shit on from above by a flying cow? God would never allow such a thing! Would he? And that boneheaded author writes "cows" when he means "cattle." Scientists with white lab coats have determined that all humans are descended from one woman (a nasty fat cross-eyed skank they call Mitochondrial Eve) and one man (a stuttering, twitching, Tourettes sufferer with bad breath and scabies, y-chromosome Adam). Surely that is as interesting as all "cows" descending from a herd of 80 domesticated aurochs, although that IS interesting to some of us. It would also be nice if the author weren't such an average American type, you know, overly casual in thought and utterance, distaste for "big government" but feels entitled to government subsidies for self and corporations, etc., etc. Wait. Where did all that come from? Oops. I think I forgot to take my medication.
