Dan Sluy's attorney wants to discredit the charges just because it "Was a decade old?" I don't care if it was 20 years ago, think of what the poor child victim had to endure & probably still trying to overcome. Yet the community is asked to keep an "open mind" to protect Sluys? I'm sure the prosecutors had enough evidence before they came forward with the charges... and to think that Sluy's lawyer wants to again discredit the charges and say it was brought forward because of "vindictive" motives? Does that mean someone witheld the information of his molestation behaviors all these years and decided to report it because Sluys pissed them off? Or should I assume that the child finally mustered up enough courage to report it? Vindictive motive or not, I commend whoever came forward because this is to protect a child. Who knows how much damage has been done. I would ask that the community keep an "open" mind and offer support to the child victim and her family before we dare to keep an "open" mind about Sluys. The girl was 3 or 4 years old?! How heart breaking, and soooo soooo sad!

This guys owns Sluys bakery in Downtown Poulsbo!!! This is completely crazy, I go into this bakery all the time with my kids. What has this world come to, where we can't even feel safe to bring my children into a family owned business. I think justice should happen, that this is a serious matter and it doesn't matter that Daniel Sluy's has a big named Bakery. Kids should feel safe, and with him knowing her, makes it worse!!! I will not keep an "open mind" I will let justice be served! How will I keep an "open mind" when this is the child that was attacked, and for her to remember that, whether it be "over a decade old" means that it was that severe enough for her to remember! Whoever did step up and tell I am thankful. Maybe that little girl can finally get some peace knowing that this molester is behind bars!!!5 year I don't feel is enough, he deserves all the years and then some. Think of what this has done to this child and all she has suffered. Who knows if she will ever be the child that she was ment to be in life. GIVE THE CHILD HER JUSTICE BACK!

As a victim of this nasty crime myself, I can not believe his attorney is so insensitive. Who cares when it happened? Who cares how old she was? It happened and he should pay...and pay dearly! The fact that it is when she was three, and by the way so was I, shame on you and shame on him. I am nearly sixty and it has and did effect my life. When I hear things like this I can recall step by step my incidents and it makes me sick, That poor child. Give her the justice she deserves. Put him in jail and throw away the key.Nasty man, remember What goes around comes around BUDDY!!
To the victim. I feel your pain and you will be in my prayers always. God Bless.

It saddens me how lawyers use whatever they can to make it lessen what has happened. The whole comment on it happened over a decade ago that was a remark that angers me. This girl was 3 years old... so she is what around 13. Now she is coming out and talking, good for her that is the first step for her to get out what I am sure she been wanting to say for a long time. Think of how long she has held it in for.....over a decade. Some people don't say anything their whole lives. Let her speak and dont discredit her for it! It maybe her only way of getting her life back. My prayers are for you, he will be punished for what he did.

Daniel Sluys of Sluys Bakery in Poulsbo? Are you kidding me? I loved that bakery and the goods they sell. I once had a hair in something and said oh well. WELL not anymore! Who knows what the DNA is after this. Mr Sluys you are a pig. I knew you've had affairs, but a child. What the H were you thinking? I hope you get the max. penalty. Anyone who molests at all, let alone a child should pay. I will make sure ALL my friends stay away from you and your bakery from now on.

How about we pretend that this person is innocent until proven guilty kind of like this whole country legal system was designed to operate inside of. Sure we can be careful to not let our children be in contact with this person, or even choose not to do business with someone until we find out whether they are found guilty or not. Or we can choose to not do business with them even because it could be that they mistreated someone. This to me is very limiting, we could find ourselves avvoiding everyone on the planet for one reason or another eventually. Or should we say "off with their heads" and just hope we never get any charges pinned to us. I feel for anyone not treated with kindness and respect. I also feel for someone who mistreats others, what would have them do that? The person improperly treated has every possibility in their life to become anything they want to become....maybe even run our country. I will not set limitations for them, this would be holding them as small and not the great person that they are. Love will always prevail. And justice will prevail. It is one thing to have a concern, and another thing to have that concern have us becoming someone we can't be proud to be. Just some insights. What can people make up from what I said now?

You sound like you are FOR the predator! Yes, everyone is Innocent until proven guilty...that's what O.J. Simpson said too and look where he is now. Some people get away with murder but it does come around. It did for O.J. and it will for Mr. Dan Sluys too! If the prosecuting office has enough to charge him with molestation in THE FIRST DEGREE!! Come on "Proud to be an American". This is a child we are talking about. GET REAL!!
I too am proud to be an American, but I too want justice for the child. He is already quilty in my eyes. Too much is free out there, why a child?

Save da "justice" part for the girl and da baby mama, and the rest of their family.

Wow!!What has this world come to and how sickening can people be to take away a childs mantality for their sickening and pathedic pleasure. It amazes me how a child who can be so innocent, has to deal with this mistreating for so long, and now has the courage to finally come out and say what needs to be said. This needs to be known!!! So many disgusting people think they can get away with their guilty ways. It always happens that one day, the truth will be known and bite the person in the ass. It takes a lot for one person to let this matter be known, and maybe in some cases, it will let other victims come out and tell their story as well. Yes, justice needs to be served immediately instead of letting the perpatrator rome the streets so he could possibly take advantage of our children today. Dan thinks he's innocent, but the cards will turn and you will be locked up, and justice will be served.

So we should forget a trial and lock Mr. Sluys up forever? Do we know he is guilty? Do you people know he is guilty? Has anybody ever been falsely accused of child molestation or any other crime? OK, now use some common sense and say yes to that. Were you people in the room at the time of the alleged incident? Use some more common sense and say no. I would hope we could all keep an open mind and wait for the evidence to be presented. It may make some of you feel good to lash out at someone because of the emotional nature this type of crime, but is it fair? Lets not make assumptions. One of you accused 'Proud to be an American' of being a relative of Mr. Sluys. I know who he is. He is not a relative or a friend. I rest my case......

FYI he has molested his own flesh and blood and he has custody of his boys and he is molesting his boy's only the boys are not going to talk because they petrafied of their on Dad (Dan Sluys) so someone that found out that the youngest one is complaining of dad playing with his bottom and doesn't like it reported it but unless these boys are removed and told very clearly that if they talk they will not be put back at home with their dad then they might actually talk, but no our system is to busy protecting (Dan Sluys) because of (sluys bakery) when are we going to think about what these kids are going thru and stop protecting the parents.
Also has anyone noticed that CPS is suppose to be child protective services but in realality it should be called PPS Parent protective services.
The child that is talking is telling the truth and has a friend that was touched by this dirt bag also and has done the same with many other kids. FYI Kids are scared to talk because of what this dirt bag might do to them.

HELLO CPS IT'S TIME TO PROTECT THE KIDS NOT THE PARENTS, PLEASE LISTEN TO WHAT THE KIDS ARE SAYING AND STEP UP AND DO YOUR JOB.

Case was dismissed. Of course most of you will not accept that. Sluys has pretty much been convicted in the court of your opinion. I hope for your sake, you do not find yourself in those shoes.
