I HAVN'T HERD ANYTHING ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT DIED, BUT ITS REALLY SAD...I THINK WE NEED A TOWER AT THIS AIRPORT..

I LIVE ABOVE THE AIRPORT ABOUT A 1/2 MILE AWAY...I SEE NEAR MISSES ALL OF THE TIME...

Why do you people insist on more rules and regulation, when all that really needs to be done is enforce the rules already in place. Let's not make it more expensive for the law abiding people. You don't need a tower or more rules! You NEED quality education! REAL EDUCATION

Jim, do you think that all airports (including international airports) should remove their towers, as well? That's like saying we should remove all stop lights and have no speed limit on ANY street. Air control towers are pretty much the equivilent to stop lights at busy intersections. It's kind of a crude comparison, but at its most basic, that is what we are talking about. Hearing from pilots (I don't fly, but until recently lived in the area and know first hand how busy the entire region isin terms of air traffic), Corona Airport keeps getting more air traffic, to the point that it is difficult to keep tabs on everyone. A tower is for everyone's safety, not just to watch out for idiots. If this was still some little desert airstrip out in the middle of nowhere, I'd agree, but the city, as well as the airport, has grown immensely in the past 10 years, and I have to agree that a tower makes sense. That, or something will have to be done to limit air traffic in and out of the area. Pilots can only do so much to protect themselves when the sky gets that crowded. I have a friend who flies who flat out refused to land at that airport, and chose another quite a bit further away because he didn't want to mess with the traffic. I don't know if you've spent time in southern CA, but to choose freeway traffic over air traffic should tell you something :P.

I was reading the NTSB reports and this happened they think because the man who was flying the plane hadnt reached 700 feet before he began to bank, because of this he collided with the other plane
