How could the loss of six computers possibly total anywhere near $100,000, or $16,000 per computer?

This is not uncommon. It happens all through MD. and VA., but this is the first that someone's been caught. Usually the identity is hidden while the process is taking place, or fraudulent use of another one's credit card is being used. Obviously he heard about the idea, and decided he knew what he was doing. Gaurenteed 15 yrs will be thrown at him.

Are Best Buy employees stupid, or they just don't care?(eg. Not paid enough?)

what he did was stupid but even stupider was the fact that he used his credit card to buy the computers, why leave a paper trail.

Maybe the value of each part and not the value of the entire computer? That's the only thing I can thing of. |

This is absured, I know this guy and honestly I think its being blown out of proportion. I know he made these mistakes as he cooperated with the authorities and admited to wrong doing. I also know he did some side work legally in which might hurt him. I just hope everything works out.

People I'm a-tellin' you times are getting really hard out here; it's either buy gas or steal computer parts. LOLOLOL Is this any different from women buy and dress; wearing it; and then returning it? Happens every day now let's move on to finding Bin Laden. or seeing what star jones is up to these days -- you know, really important stuff! lololol

That's pretty clever, but I would have used cash instead of credit cards. That way there are no paper trails. And if it's only One-Hundred Grand, then Best Buy didn't lose out much. They're a corporation, they can write it off as a loss.
