Anna Fredrickson says she sees the new officers driving the recently purchased vehicle on patrol.Just because Roche drives by her house all day doesn't mean all officers are driving the new car.You can always see the new car during the day at the town hall or going to Tim Hortons.

I think the Village should buy another car, this way Roach will be able to alternate between cars on his trips to Tim Hortons. Maybe they will think its a different officer getting free coffee 5 times a day

If Roach says he needs another police car right now, the smart solution for the Village Board at this point would be only allowing Roach to purchase a white Impala with the same package as Sheriff Gerace orders. Do not stripe it and have Roach drive it until the Sheriff takes over. It would then be striped red and white. Im sure you would get a ton of opposition from Roach, since he is used to only driving race cars or four wheel drive vehicles for officer safety. Lets see if the board uses common sense or let Roach run the roost

Roach should give any opposition to driving an unmarked car he drove one for 6 months before his tempo was striped.

did you see the paper today? Piccolo has no comment because he does not know enough about the situation and sounds like Pearl know nothing about the situation, yet they are running for election. Shouldnt it be their responsibility to know the situation and do research? or do they think they should wait to see if they win the election? They should be learning all the can now before the election, this shows pure laziness like some candidates before them, thats just sad. No vote from me, that is for sure

Good Post Just Me, my thoughts exactly. Why are they running if they have no idea what they are running for. The police controversy has been a topic of discussion for a year now. Where have they been?

Well, Piccolo plans to lay off the police dept. as of June 1st and let the Sheriff take over. What I don't understand is how he made this decision behind closed doors? He has no consideration for what anyone else in the village wants- he is just going to do what he wants. His plan is the lay off the whole department so that then when the Sheriff takes over, there is no department to fight it! But, the public needs to know what this means for the last full time officer that is left- Nate Narroway. Nate is still on his probationary period- so if the Sheriff takes over right now, he will not be absorbed by the Sheriff's Department. Nate has a baby on the way, and if Piccolo can wait until the middle of the summer to make these changes, Nate would be off of probation and be able to transfer to the Sheriff's. What is the big hurry? Is one or two months really going to save a ton of money? And why are these decisions being made behind closed doors?

No- it was confirmed at the board meeting by the Sheriff himself during his presentation. Nate will not be taken by the Sheriff's Dept. A lateral transfer can only take place if an officer has worked for a year and taken off of probation. The Sherif said that he is not taking any of the officers- Nate was the only full time and he is not elligible, the other officers are part time and they are making the Chief retire early.

The Sheriff has to hire at least 4 people to cover shifts, he will probably be one of those!
