Yeah right Raul. You are going to continue to investigate the unsolved murders. You say you will work on the drug and gang problem. Funny. You should have done that a long time ago. Silver City, sorry to say, is getting EXACTLY what it deserves. Your future is not bright.

Olver has a better plan to run the dept, IMO. Raul did little to address the mounting charges of corruption and lack of transparency as Olver pointed out. Plus, Olver is widowed with no children and can focus on the job 100% As a non-native he is hopefully less likely to run the place with "family and friends" in mind. Lastly, he has experience with grant writing. The county needs more funding and Raul either has no experience acquiring funding or does it incorrectly. While I don't usually favor Republicans or non-natives, I think Olver has the upper hand and should be elected.

Pretty sad choice. Raul is a nice guy, but I think he is TOO nice for the job.

And from what I've seen of Oliver Oh Oliver (here's the link to his picture if you've never seen him...

Oliver is a clown trying to impress people with his previous employers. But we have heard nothing of his actual accomplishments. Working for the federal government nowadays is a minus, rather than a plus. I think I will write in Speedy Gonzalez. He's got more chance of getting things accomplished than the other two.

Normally I agree with many of your postings, but not this one.

Olver is by far the best candidate for sheriff. Rather than snubbing and ridiculing the man, I say let's give him a chance to clean up and professionalize our sheriff's department. Raul certainly does not have the intelligence nor the expertise to do the job.

I'm voting for Olver and I hope all others who want to see new blood in the sheriff's office do as well.

I too hope Oliver wins, but were bucking a huge population of hispanic voters who will vote for Raul, just because his name is Raul. Listen to this guy speak in his radio ads, good grief! Maybe he is a nice guy, but thats not a qualification for cleaning up our Sheriffs department and County. As pointed out here, Raul is promising to address problems he should have already addressed. This guy does not have the skills needed to do the job, hes already proven that. How much more proof do we need? The things hes saying, hes saying so hell get re-elected, not because will or even can, actually do them. Hes lying to us, even if he believes himself, hes still lying to the rest of us. Look at his record.

Raul has 6 children and lives in Bayard. If Olver's clean how will he work with SCPD?

He'll tell them just as much as they need to know -- just like the SCPD will do to him and his officers. They have to work together to a point, but I doubt if they will trade much intelligence on any case until there is trust built up between them. It will no doubt take time, but it could turn out to be a good thing for our citizens.

How can the now Sheriff also be the union president? That is either a misprint or a conflict of interest.

Needing more funding is always an excuse. Villanueva has been in office over a year and has no accomplishments. Time for a new Sheriff.

Many posts about this Sheriff sucking and you are correct, but i'd bet $1000.00 that he still wins. People here vote based on Race(skin color), political party and then on who's there friend or relatives are. SO SAD!!(
TRUE FOR MOST WHO DONT VOTE FOR THE RITE REASON!!)

I Wish somehow things would change here in Silver Shitty!! Such a beautifull place and so many losers!!

Oliver is not the best , but the best choice here.

If he would win it might change the mojo and some drug dealers might get areested, Imagine that!

Chicanos for Oliver!! VOTE VOTE VOTE

I'm with you all the way. Olver is by far the best choice for Sheriff of Grant County.

Please, people, if you believe as we do, then go vote on or before Nov. 2. And, vote for Olver.

Our county law enforcement agency needs help. I believe Wayne Olver is our best choice. He will lead the Grant County Sheriff's Department to a more professional level, especially in relation to accountability.

Let's clean up the sheriff's department.

Raul Villanueva is the Aguirre's puppett. The sad truth is Raul will do nothing and will most likely be elected ,

Wayne Oliver is a nice guy and a better choice. He will do something even if its wrong, He aint the brightest but atleast he will try and he's white!!

OH i said white, shit he will never be elected in Grant County. Sad.

I'm tired of the same old song and dance being thrown at us from the past few Sheriffs. I say lets give the new comer a go at it and maybe the drugs and gangs will cease when nepotism is no longer a factor.

Ok, everyone blames the Sheriff for not doing anything, everyone blames the jail administrator because the jail has a of TON issues.(Maybe they have tried to clean things up, but have no support from their boss)..But where does all this start WHO IS their boss..Its the county manager of course!! Get rid of Jon Saari, Abigale Robinson, and all those corrupt commisioners!!! I bet then we see some change..YOU have to start at the TOP to clean out corruption!!! Think about it!!!

You make some good points, especially regarding dumping sorry ass Saari and the goofy Abigale Robinson. We will have two new commissioners after the first of the year, but I am highly doubtful that Ramos will have the gonads to join Bret Kasten in ousting Saari. You can bet Christy Miller won't vote to dump him.
