Speculation and anything else doesn't count or matter. We just want to know the truth and some of you should look at numbers from the frozen end here in New York. Almost every day we would put out a million pounds of frozen product- have to take product and ship it far away because we filled up the cold storages. The management that we have here is open, fair, honest. I have been honored to work for the management here in Oakfield from the plant manager to the line superivisors. They have heart, they run the place the way it should be- Had dedicated workers and still have them. Until the day this place closes we all come in and do what we are suppose to do- ask any of us here- all we want is to know what is going to happen. We all want a job, we all want a company that we can say that we are proud to work for.

Sadly when Allen purchased the Birds Eye plants they overpaid for them. Top Management had never done an acquisition before. Pete was the one that handled the acquisitions. He purchased Alma and Van Buren for such a cheap price rumor had it that Allen Canning paid for it by selling the inventory that came with it in less than a year. He handled the Steele, East Texas Fair, Sunshine and the sweet potato plants purchases. I over heard him tell someone one time to never get in a bidding war whenever you are buying a competitor. Unfortunately, others did not know how to do this. They overpaid for the frozen plants by over 40 million (so I heard) The production department never knew what or when to pack the frozen products. Allen, inc ran up the cost of production up with storage, transportation and selling below cost.

I just thought I would give you some insight as to what happened.
I am sorry that you have a good team of people there;however, Allen, inc has put the frozen plants back up for sale and it appears that there are not any buyers.

If what has been said has any shred of truth, it would be nice to have management with enough balls to keep its people in the loop. If they can't sell them, if that's the plan, then what. Letting them sit idle wont make any money either. Best figure a way to stop the bleeding and share the damn pain.

I find it funny that we have so many "Monday morning quarterbacks" who like to game this thing after the fact. We have so many people ready to put down the Allens and the company. Let me just set the record straight.
1. The goal of business is to make money. Sam Walton, Don Tyson, Bill Gates - yes, all in it to make money.
2. At the end of the week when we get our paychecks, we are even with Allens and they are even with us. I don't remember signing any contracts when I started that guaranteed me employment for life. It's not personal, IT IS BUSINESS.
3. The Allens have been generous beyond all comprehension. How many of you donate truckloads of food to Feed the Children, Feed the Hungry, etc? How many of you even send $10? The Allens send hundreds of truckloads of product to various charities each year. Before you say "it's a tax write off", let me just say I heard our former CFO say once that we donate so much that the IRS does not allow us to write it all off! Yet, they send the food anyway.
Once again I ask, why must the handful of haters speak so loudly while the majority sit by and read? Get on here and support this local company, the company that gives to the schools, employees, charities in the communities in which it operates. Quit letting these haters dominate this board. It is about time that the silent majority be heard. I have a hundred good stories of the Allens doing good for me, my family, and my community.

No one dIsputes Allens generosity. It is tje manner in which loyal employees were dismissed and escorted out of the builing. Just a little humiliating don't you thInk? It was not thjeir fault that Allens is having financial issues and they should Have been able to LeaVe with some dignity.

Hey "noboby" you didn't even know Delbert or Earl Allen like this family member does. And if you are who I think you are you wouldn't of had a job at Allens at all except that your Dad was on the Board of Trustees of John Brown University with Rick Allen. I can remember when Rick was going to fire you but he decided not to!
You are inferring that "nobody" is ME - Jake Naramore which is not accurate. The only previous post I have made - I signed my name. Anytime I post, I use my real name (unlike you are anyone else in here). If you knew what you were talking about you would also know that I don't live in Keller TX, but San Antonio/Bulverde TX (about 300 miles apart). Look it up.

Wow, my Dad and Rick Allen served together on the Board of Trustees at JBU?!?!- Can you believe that my grandfather and Delbert also served together on the board of trustees at JBU? What a conspiracy! I think there should be an investigation into the networking that was used to find an entry level job more than 12 years ago!

So before you assume you know who has specifically posted in here, don't guess. It would be like me guessing that "Allen Employee" is Tom Reynolds.

If you recall, Rick wasn't the one that wanted to fire me, it was the department head that I worked for. Rick recognized that I would be an asset and not a liability, hence why I am still here. If Rick wanted to fire me, he would have already done it.

For the rest of you that seem to do nothing but spread rumors and assume you know who is posting in here, realize this:

Allens is a business. As someone stated earlier, we worked last week and we were paid. Allens owes me NOTHING! If I am let go tomorrow, I won't like it, but they don't owe me a thing!

You are responsible for your own personal development - Meaning that just because you have a job or did have a job does not mean the company you work for is obligated to you for life; just like you aren't obligated to the company for life. If you choose to leave for a better opportunity, then that is your choice.

It makes me sick that people are willing to be such cowards while hiding behind a computer. If you are really an ex-employee or a current employee, then why don't you stand behind your comments? Anyone can throw stones anonymously. If you truly believe what you are saying then why not tell everyone who you are? One of the reasons this country has so many problems is due to people not having the courage and conviction to do the right thing. The right thing in this forum is to stop trying to hurt Allens and the various people that work for them.

Well I find all this better than the soap operas. Here's my take on all this...not that anyone cares or that I have all my facts straight. The truth is tHat I am stunned that Allens is in so much financial trouble. I feel sorry for Rick because I think he is a nice man who has worked hard and tried to live a good life. He has done a lot for my family and I know that he is taking all of this very hard.

The truth is that we all have had a lot of time to process these facts. We have known all jobs are (and they are still) in jeopardy since the Seneca merger in July. I. Guess we should always leave options open and don't get too comfortable when we work for someone else. The folks on this board are capable of doing great things in this world with or without Allen Canning. We have all been hurt and we do have a right to be angry but at some point you gotta get over it and move on!

I am a grower for Allen in WI. My check did not come on time so I called down there and asked about it. They sent it and it arrived 5 days late but at least it got here.

I have not talked to any other growers from this area who have been paid. Some growers are waiting for 7 figure checks, and a lot of growers are waiting on 6 figure checks. Any news on what is going on down there? Allen's has done a very poor job of telling the growers what is going on, all you get is rumors.

All the growers got paid from what I understand, it just took a while. It also sounds like 3 plants are for sale, if they can sell them then they will be in good shape.

What the growers don't know is how can we trust them now? Since one of the plants is for sale here the new owners of will take over the contracts after Allen's gets the contracts for the acres for them due to time constraints.

It will be intresting to see what the company rep says when he finally gets here. I wish Seneca would just buy it and get it over with.
