Murder in Siler City Ricky Dean Hayes

Just been informed of an old friend who was found murdered in their home a few minutes ago. He was a good friend who I will miss so much. I hope that the SCPD will investigate this death, and not push this under the rug, as Ricky Dean was not rich but he was deep down a very good person, probably not in the SCPD's eyes but he was a human being who had family that loved him very much, and he deserves justice for what was done to him. Rest in Peace Ricky Dean, I really hated to hear that you left this world the way you did<3 Rather than what people think, there is a place in Heaven for him and I know that he is there.

I just knew him a little, but one thing was for sure, he loved his dog Pookey very much. Pookey was killed several months ago and now they can be together and that does bring some comfort. I do hope they find out who did this!

I found out today that there is an investigation into the death of Ricky Dean, although there are no leads at this time, but they are sorting thru evidence and asking a lot of questions. So I am relieved a little more than I was when I found out that Ricky Dean was murdered. And if his little dog Pookey would have been alive this weekend, I believe Ricky would have gotten some help from Pookey, although a small dog, he took care of Ricky Dean and Ricky Dean took care of him. And I know that it was very heart-breaking for him to lose Pookie, as he spoke of leaving town soon after Pookie died.

I know he had a lot of different people in his house and im curious to what the motive to murder him would have been. Any ideas???

Ricky got into trouble now and again but he was a good person with a heart of gold. He was not perfect but neither is any body else. He was a human being with a heart and a soul and a mother who loved him very much. He didn't deserve to die that way and I hope they catch the person who did it. He will be greatly missed. Being a mother myself my heart goes out to Josephine. May God be with her in the hard days to come and may she find some sort of peace.

Hi Everyone ~ Ricky Dean was a friend of mine for many years , they are investigating his murder , hopefully there will be an arrest soon.
Pookie was ran over , actually he told me the guy who hit her ran off the road and hit her on the sidewalk.
There will be a Memorial Service for Ricky this Saturday at 1:00 p.m , at the Bonlee Baptist Church.

i was ricky's neighbor. i really didnt now him well but. he was such a loving person. he loved pookie a lot that he even made him a b-day party. at atleast they have re united although we wish it wouldnt have been like that. well miss u my beloved neighbor. i remember when u tryied to help me make a snowmen.. thanks ricky. may god take justce in his hands if the cops dont.<3

I knew Ricky somewhat ,I worked for one of the stores in town , He came in quite often , seemed really nice ,talked alot but laugh more, quite a fellow. He always had a nice word to say ,only thing I think upset him was SCPD He told me more than one time that he was scared of some of them, But also said some were nice guys. I do know he was scared of some of the guys in town. But he weas always nice and kind to me,And he talked about his dog alot,I rember he told me he gave his dog a birthday party ,and we laughed about that .Rest in peace Ricky you will be missed.

I just read the article in the Chatham News about Ricky's Death and the investigation. I was really annoyed of how the Harman discussed the long history of Ricky of crime surrounding him. Profiling him before death and after too, Harman, we know you have skeletons too, we sure do love to judge ones here on earth, but Harman on Judgement Day you will be judged too. Yes Ricky tried to be a friend to everyone, and some of those friends abused his friendship too, by robbing him, stealing his medication for his crippling injuries but were you there to protect him..no ..did you find out who burnt his house out a few years ago, no..did not even try..we all know what type of service he got from the SCPD..he knew a lot of secrets of the well-known in Siler City, many that are still living around here..and some that have moved away, including a famous doctor here in Siler City, we know those stories, eccentric? no he wasn't he just loved beautiful things, he also was convicted and framed on a lot of things here in Siler City, we know who done it, and what was not done about it..but if Ricky had clout, or born with a silver spoon in his mouth, the killer or killers would have been caught by now..as the SCPD would have stepped it up this weekend in doing some detective work on finding his killer, but since they let it go about Larry Culberson, who did not have a history of violence in his home, his killer has not be found either...so kudos for you Harmin, you just made that badge you wear go a little more dull...just like your history in reference to your father in law..you knew his history too, and his mental weakness, but where did he get his gun?? where there is smoke there is fire..Shame on you for how you expressed your condolences to Josephine and Herbie and all those who loved Ricky Dean..Judgement Day is COMING said the Lord Judgement Day is coming..

The newspaper article was shameful , I plan to write a letter to the editor and hope all of you will too. You can online to the Chatham News and submit your letter , please take a few moments to do so.

Ricky Dean's mother was upset by the article , she didn't like what was written about him either , nor did I. It was a tragic death , there was no rhyme or reason to bring up his past history.

Anyone who knew Ricky Dean , knew his love of animals , the cruelty to animal charge stemmed from him protecting Pookie.

Please send a letter to the Chatham News Editor , they need to know how loved ones feel when they read such as that at a time like this.

I knew Ricky Dean for almost 45 years. He was once part of my family. All through the years he still called me cousin. Ricky Dean was one of the kindest, loving people I knew. Yes he had faults just like the rest of us. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. The comments made by the SCPD were uncall for.It seemed to most of us that he was on trial even though he was the one murdered. His past should have remained in the past and not put out there for everyone to judge. why would you hurt his family like this. Shame on you for demeaning him in death.

I also knew rick dean Hayes. He was a good soul and person, yes he did act a little crazy , but you had to know him, he just acted like that to be funny, we all know he had some faults but dont we all! Ricky did love his dog, he was better to that dog than to himself. I hope that the SCPD will do the right thing and find this killer in our city. Someone that evil we we donot need in our town. And yes I do agree it was very very offensive what was said in the chatham news . He was a victim in this case anyway you look.So do the right thing and apologize to his family. and find out who killed him. may he rest in peace with pookie.

yes I to think the Siler City PD needs to apologize in writing but in person as well that was a very sorry way to handle his passing, when I grew up people carried food and ask could they help when someone passed away ,or when a family was in need everyone helped out. Now when a family is down and out we throw sticks and stone to see if we can hurt them more. As a friend of Rickys I say lets all stand together and do what we can change this town back to what it was , togeather we can build back the SILER CITY that we all know and love , AND WE NEED TO START THIS ELECTION.
