I don't know about Siler City, but if you want a nice town to live to, try Ramseur, about 12 miles West of Siler City. I mover here 6 weeks ago from the Lenoir area, and we love it. Good Luck

Well, it's not a big enough town to have recreational facilities for dogs!

Yep, just like every small, medium and large city in the United States. Backstabbers, thieves, speeders, good people, people who help out, people who pray, people who welcome strangers, etc. etc.

It's all America.

Try Asheboro. It's a nice place to call home. The city school system is excellent and pays a decent supplement to teachers in addition to their state salary: www.asheboro.k12.nc.us

I'll be honest, with the growing hispanic population; I wouldn't recommend moving to directly to Siler City. Some of the smaller communities just outside of Siler are wonderful.
I live in a small farming community between Siler and Pittsboro. My great-grandparents were born and raised not 5 miles from where I live. My grandparents live less than 5 minutes walking distance from me.
My grandfather, grandmother, mother, 2 sisters, myself and now my own son have gone to the same elementary school (obviously the school has been reconstructed over the years). My son's had the same Kindergarten teacher that me and my sister's had!
It's a great place, but again... I wouldn't move directly into Siler City. TOO many hispanics. I live close enough to go into town and get groceries and do whatever shopping I need, but other than that... I stay out in the country where everybody knows everybody else!

I lived in Texas 45 years and moved up here to be married, my husband lived out in the Denton area and i worked in Asheboro,..........there are more spanish ill legals in Asheboro nc than in Texas, thats a lot...... belive me i know.If i went to work as a person on dealing with importaion, id be rich in one day.....i still may do it...not for the money. If you live up North you might wont to stay there. I warned you, all hope you listen...If you live here and cant move its one thing but to move here on purpose....forget it.

and Siler City is El paso NC, ive heard.I do not mind any one trying to better their way of living, but ill legally.......have no time for people breaking the laws....dont care who they are.the spanish-ill legals hispanics you can call them, are close to the very only ones that come over here illegally.....and actually get away with it.You try going to their country ill legally and see if they dont lock you up,and tell you to speak spanish or there will be no communication....going on.Sad but true, I pray they all get caught and they put monitoring bands on their legs or a chip in their hands they cant take out....so we can monitor the ill legals when they come over here and get sent back and they come back in a week...or a day..thats what i pray.

I will be the first to agree that we have a problem with illegal immigration, but not all Spanish-speaking people are illegal. Also, as far a our children learning to speak Spanish (or any other language) that can only make them better students and citizens in our diverse population. Plus studies have shown that teaching children a new language at the elementary level improve their scores across the board. So I don't beleive we should hold our children back for something that is new and worthwhile.

learning a new language is great i agree, but not when its forced down your throat like they are doing with the Spanish language, and true not all are illegal, but a whole lot of them are, not my last note but the one before that , i mentioned, hey if they wont to come on over and do it legal., come over whoever...we have to do it legal, so why dont they? Now most people are just flat frustrated and irritated about the whole mess, so not learning spanish is fine with me. I remember when i first came to NC, and still i cant get a job in a office setting or many different jobs here because they said i wasnt bi-lingual...thats bull....i hate that, and i still hate it,that is not right to the USA legal folkes, to ever tell them you cant work here becasue you cant speak Spanish...thats bull.If it was a traveling agency maybe, not a everyday office job.

It seems as though everyone is starting to get off the subject at hand..The couple want to know about Siler City Community and I take it the people that live there too if I'm not wrong, besides the job which I understand the school system is always hunting for good teachers. But, as far as Siler City Community and it's people that live here, to me they are great..I moved here in 1990 from Orange County and have loved it since then. I would never move back there or anywhere else for that matter...Everyone here knows you and you know them. If something happens they are there for you to lend a helping hand if needed. I know this because I broke my leg 2 months after coming here and everyone bought food over to the house even the UPS guy did, now if that is not a close nit community I don't know what is. You can go to the grocery store and smile and people smile back, you don't have to be afraid that somebody is going to rob you right then. Now don't get me wrong we have out fair share of crime but nothing like bigger cities or counties..As far as the Hispanics go, they are everywhere you go in every county every state..It is not fair to point fingers just at them, Blacks, Whites and everything in between live here what do you want to do run everybody out of Siler City that was not born and raised here? Better yet if you were not born and raised in the USA then that person should go back to where they belong? That is being racist a grade A racist and trust me I would want nothing to do with you, because you could be a dangerous person or maybe you already belong to the KKK sounds that way...God created everyone one of us equal, everyone of us started in our mothers woumb. I am no better than any one and no one is better than me....So To the couple with the question about Siler City, we are a great community, with good people, but we so have some bad seeds I am sorry to say....

To USA Legal Citizen - It's possible the reason you can't get a job in an office setting is because of your negative attitude. Yes, Siler City does have a large number of hispanics, as do other cities and states. As the owner of several businesses, hispanics are the ones spending their hard-earned money in this town. The majority of them are hard-working honest people that are only wanting to better themselves. Coming to the states legally is easier said than done. I hope the day comes when you have to rely, in some manner or form, on a hispanic. Whether it be receiving a donated organ from an illegal, an illegal pulling you from a burning house or vehicle, or one saving you from a group of thugs. Hope then your opinion will change. Until then, I will have to pray for narrow-minded pathetic humans such as you, because you are certainly going to need it in this world. Spend your negative energy trying to better yourself, not degrade the human race. Jesus loves all of us, even you. To Shelbyville: As to the queston, Siler City is a wonderful place to live with great people, who are always there when you need them, legal and illegal. Wouldn't live anywhere else!
