Just a thought but WHY has the Randolph County Sheriff's Office not got on board witht he 287-g (INS) program? Goodness knows we have a ton of illegal aliens in Randolph County. Just take a drive up North Fayeteville Street in Asheboro or go to Walmart on Sunday afternoon!

I would imagine the good ol' sheriff's office could get a helluva lot more than 15lbs of dope if they went after the illegals...plus they could deport them too!! DOUBLE BONUS!!!!

Just checked in and what a good point Cowboy! WHY doesn't the Sheriff's Office here in Randolph County do SOMETHING ANYTHING about the seeming tons of illegal aliens here?????? I know all of them are not here illegally but I would bet the majority are! and lets be real ..... they bring in lots and lots of drugs. 287-g is a deputization program between INS (Federal Immigration) and a local agency such as the Sheriff's Office. It really helps to crack down on illegal aliens in a community, drop crime rates, etc.

They don't have it in Randolph County?? I am suprised! I think Guilford and Alamance Counties use it to good effect.

Maybe we should ask our elected officials just WHY we do not have it in Randolph County!!!!

This has all been great and wonderful to read but until you were their that night you will never know exactly what happened.
Yes, everyone has their own opions and that's the great thing about living in this country but that is like 83% of Americans or higher claim to be Christians and yet our kids can't pray in school and there is a question about "In God We Trust" being displayed on our walls and money.
As far as all of you so called "family Members" you I will remind you of one quote "He who is without sin let him cast the first stone" I have yet to meet anyone with nail prints in their hands that walks on this earth.
The only thing I find really interesting is another local Ramseur truck owner was busted with over 100,000.00 in cash and so many pounds of cocaine and he never made the front page or the local news. Hum what made this case so personal for the local law enforcement? Could their possibly be a personal vendeta going on?

I don't think the Sheriff has any say in what makes the front page!!! That usually left up to the paper boys!

Go back and check the newspaper archives, it did make the paper....you again are caught talking trash that you don't know anything about.

A sixteen year old is treated as an adult, but that does not mean that legally they are considered an adult. I think that you don't know anything yet again. it means the crimes they commit can be charged as an adult but they are not an adult until they are 18 years of age. If you don't understand or like it contact Gov. Beverly Purdue.

As for 287-g I think it sounds like a good idea...IF the Sheriff wants it.(Really I am suprised many people know about it) It would really be up to the Sheriff, of course, based on staffing and logistical issues. As for County Commish input, I highly doubt they would oppose such a request by the highest LEO in the county, If they did.....there is always the next election to address THAT issue!

As far as the coment about the other trucking company owner making the paper, yes he did burried on page 6 or so nothing as 6:00 news as they made this family out to be. My question is now that the Mother Father and daughter have lost thier jobs over the publicity who is going to pay for thier defense. Oh and by the way the article in the paper said the 17 yr old lives at home well no she doesn't.
