Did you know that lowes in Sikeston is selling the cellulose insulation for $10.77 per bag? The same bag costs $5.23 at the lowes in Cape.
It also costs $5.39 a bag at Home Depot in Poplar Bluff.
I'm quite certain that it doesn't cost over twice as much to ship that item 30 miles.

They are ripping the Sikeston residents off. I wonder how many people bought insulation at the Sikeston store? They could have went to Cape and bought twice as much for the same price, or bought what they did for half as much.

When the Sikeston store stops stealing from the local residents maybe they will be supported. Until then, I'll buy EVERYTHING I can somewhere else.

Stop shopping there, if you found it cheaper somewhere else. That's the glory of the good ol' USA. If you don't like what one merchant's selling, you have the right to buy it somewhere else.

You're welcome to stop shopping there. I checked it out and the fact of the matter is... Lowe's only cares about money. The Cape store often undercuts the Sikeston store on many, many items in order to increase their sales to this area in general.

you can also show them the price from Home Depot or even the other Lowes and they have to give it to you at that price plus an additional 10%

I have no problem not shopping there. I just wondered if the rest of Sikeston knew what kind of greedy thieves they are. The only way that I'll buy ANYTHING there is if I can't get it somewhere else.
You must be an employee or manager there. That's the same kind of attitude they have. They could care less whether you shop there or not. That's okay, maybe a lawyer will read this post and maybe he just purchased insulation. Maybe he will get into the hip pocket and teach them how to care.

Doesn't Walmart own Lowes? Walmart in Cape is cheaper also Supply and demand.

I think the family of wal mart does own lowes.
I understand supply and demand, just wouldn't think it costs them twice as much to ship to Sikeston as it does cape.
That's a clear of price gouging and pure greed. At the expense of Sikeston residents.

I am not an employee of Lowe's. I have, unfortunately, been employed in the retail market since I was sixteen. Your attitude and comments are what destroy a town's local business. And yes, Lowe's IS a local business. It is in this town, paying our taxes, employing our residents and supporting our local economy. You want to talk smack about stores on here and how bad they suck then you turn around and complain that there is nothing to do here or no good places to shop when your attitude puts them out of business, not to mention the complaining we'll have to hear when you have to drive alllll the way to Cape and waste your gas to buy some decent 2x4's. Again, Lowe's isn't doing any more price gouging than any other store does. And like another poster said at least they are willing to honor a competitor's ad and take another 10% off that total. Each and every business does this, especially in markets such as ours where there are two chain stores within a hundred mile radius. Sikeston's Lowe's also has to compete with stores as far away as Paducah and St. Louis because they are considered to be within the same market. Of course they are going to undercut each other. This is the way business works. The citizens of Sikeston aren't in any way being gouged. If you look on their website this is the cost of this item as listed and obviously either Cape decided to mark their item down for quick sale (which in the case of insulation means it most likely has gotten wet at some point) or it is a comparable but not EXACT item. I wish people like you would shut up or maybe lawyers might start suing you for defamation of reputation. I worked at a local business here for many years only to have it be shut down because of stupid remarks such as you are making here. If you don't really know what you are talking about then shut up. Or maybe you aren't really a customer but a competitor trying to take business away from a place that employs many people in your town. Or maybe you'd just like it to go out of business so our tax dollars can pay for their unemployment. JERK. Oh, and WM does NOT own Lowe's. That rumor died long ago so let it go. You can look up their company profile and owners on the internet. Use some intelligence!

Wal Mart does the same thing.... wooden baby gate at Sikeston store is 12.00, at Cape Wal Mart it is 10.00. When you ask them about their price matching they will not do it with their own stores.
The store itself does not get to set the price though so you cannot blame the workers, corporate offices set the stores prices.

Thanks, but trust me, before this is over I'll be called any number of things from idiot to socialist. This town really needs a fresh start and it needs to start with people learning to keep their mouths shut when they don't have a clue what they are talking about. They just don't realize how many lives they ruin when they put a good business down. I hope that one day it happens to them, that they have to have a boss (who's also a friend) come to you and tell you that they have to close their doors due to rumors and the loss of business that came with them.

They actually can't price match an item unless it is listed in their sale bill. If it was on sale at Cape it means it was a 'local move out sale' and not a regular sale item. That is why the clearance isles from store to store are completely different.

Dear sigh,

Go smoke some more crack and get back under that rock you crawled out from under. If you have plenty of money that you're willing to just throw away, then that by all means is your choice. Just like it is MY choice to speak my opinion and facts as I know them. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that insulation should not cost over twice as much at one town as it does another town at the same brand store.
The first amandment guarantees my right to free speech. Enjoy!!!!
Oh, but I guess you already knew that. You think you know everything else. You must have more money than you have sense. If you stop and use that thing in your head you'll understand what I was trying to say.

If you pay 10.77 per 16cuft bag in Sikeston It costs you over $400 dollars to insulate your attic. If you buy it for 5.23 a bag in cape or 5.37 a bag in Poplar Bluff. You can buy twice as much for the same money. If that ain't greed and price gouging then I'm glad I'm not as educated as you are. I add and subtract and am able to apply common sense.
The solution is for Lowes to be within a reasonable difference. I wholeheartedly believe in supporting local business. It's stores like lowes and wal mart that have destroyed our local businesses. They come to town and offer cheap prices until the competition is gone. Then they can charge what ever they want to. It is the intelligent and smart consumer that does the homework and compares. Who else will ensure thay aren't getting raped like lowes is doing? So, you defend them if you want to but you know deep down I'm absolutely right!!! My family has been in business for 0ver 20 years. SO go blow your smoke up someone else's a#*. Mine's a non-smoking A*#
I refuse to buy into your BS!!!! I'll lay odds that if lowes closed tomorrow, C&K will thrive, so will Morley building supply and I'll bet that if wal mart closed. Small businesses would re emerge and thrive again. SO, go ahead and believe all your own hype. GET A LIFE!!!!

One of the wm family is married to the lowes family. If that isn't owning then it sure is controlling?

It was not on sale, that was the "regular price" at both stores. I must say I was a bit disappointed though, had a friend who was going to buy a couple gates and I had seen the price at Cape and had to ask if they would match the price.

I dont know about lowes, but walmart does say they will match (any) store price on (any) item. If they arent doing it, then they need to stop advertising that they will do it!! I havent shopped at lowes here in town, but the one in stl is very nice.

Walmart carries different model numbers than other stores on big ticket items like TV's, computers and other items. So, if Best Buy runs a sale on a 60" Sony TV, Walmart won't match the price on a set that has identical features because it's not the same model number.
