Wondering Mom

United States

#1 Jun 17, 2008
My daughter is wanting to take a job there. But I've heard so many different things about it. Can someone let me know what they think. Is this a good place for kids to work?

I worked there when I was 16 and it was a wonderful place to work!!! It was like a family!!! I am not sure how it is now though since Norm is no longer around.

I don't think there is anything about the cafe except the name of it like it was when Norm was there. I would be careful letting my child work anywhere if they are empressionable.

If your kid isn't a good kid going in, then don't expect them to be good coming out. I blame the parents. For all the Lamberts have done for the community, we shouldn't be running them down. It is a great place to work, but if you can't handle schedules, guidelines, or manual labor maybe you should go back home and let your parents try again to make you a better person.

If any of you on here think that Lambert's may or might be the only place around this area with a drug problem, you need to come into reality! Sound like to me that someone had a bad experience THERE and is just dogging them. The drug problem around this area is ANYWHERE ANYONE works...let's face it...you can get crack, coke or crank in a Cracker Jack box these days.....

I think that they have been given a bad rap, as far as drugs goes if they do peddle them there a kid can get them working at Burger king or school, give your child the benefit of the doubt if they are a good kid and have a good head on their shoulders they would say no, it is a good job and great money and despite what everyone says good people

A job is what you make of it. Not every job is perfect. There is nothing wrong with the people that work at Lamberts. That place is busy from the time it opens the doors until the time they close. There is not any time to do anything but work!!! Parents need to teach their children the value of a job. You can't go around blaming a restaurant for drug problems. You can get drugs anywhere. Everyone wants a job these days, they just don't want to work.

"So you are the one that brought drugs into Lambert's." If we only knew....that you did drugs before, during, and apparenlty still doing them. Good luck with that. Lambert's has security cameras in every nook and cranny, so you got caught with drugs and now you are blaming them. Typical Sikeston Trash, blame everyone but yourself. Typical.

Remember when they busted the guy at Taco Bell for selling pot through the drive thru... what was it, ask for extra lettuce and you could get a sack of weed. You can't blame drug problems on the restaurant. Hell, you can probably find someone with drugs at every restaurant in town. Wondering Mom, if you have a good kid then I wouldn't worry too much about them going to work at Lamberts. It's about the best place for a kid to earn money in this town and I have known several people who worked there, years ago and more recently, and they absolutely loved it, and I never heard any of them complain, or talk, about a drug problem. People just like to talk trash. If you trust your kid then there shouldn't be a problem.

If they gave drug test 90% of those kids would be fired.

I'm not 100% on this, but I thought at one time they were going to give drug tests. But after they found out they would have to fire almost all for flunking they decided not to. Didn't some employees get fired for buying and selling pills on the job?
I don't think I'd let my daughter work there.

Well, if you really want to know- his eyes aren't the only thing that's a little buggy if you know what I mean. He's been passed around more than the fried okra and black eyed peas..... The hot rolls were better than he was (all 4 minutes of him)

Then you'd probably better not let your daughter out of the house. Your best bet is to teach your children about the dangers of drugs...but, there again, if your child succumbs to pressure from friends or people that they work with, there is not alot that you can do. If kids WANT to do drugs, they can find them ANYWHERE and not just in workplaces...Lambert's does a wonderful business for this community, let alone this entire area. Buck up and accept responsibility for your children and stop blaming everyone else for what they may or might be doing. GET INVOLVED and make it your business to know what is going on in their life!
