Someone told me that Hood's would be a good place to go and buy flooring and cabinets. Does anyone know if they have good building stuff?
They also said that they had furniture, but that the people that worked in the furniture room were really rude and hateful

Hood's used to be a really good place to get discount building supplies. But since they have begun to remodel, I think that they are mainly focusing on furniture and stuff like that. My husband and I bought a recliner out there for a really good price. We went in there a couple of weeks ago to get some living room furniture and the "lady" that helped us was very rude and told us she didn't have time to help us because she was leaving. I walked to the front and got help from one of the guys that worked there. We were there probably another 20 to 30 minutes looking and the girl that wouldn't help us before was still sitting down talking on her cell phone.
I think that they need to take a look at their employees, because the two girls that they have working in the furniture part of the store are really rude.

You can get some nice flooring there, but they no longer carry a lot of the stuff that they used to carry. They have nice cabinets tho, and they're not the particle board kind either. The only problem is whether they have it or not. We've been remodeling our kitchen and they didn't have half of the cabinets we needed. They said that they could order it, but it would take a couple months to get them.

They need to look at the chicks they hire. They aren't anything but lazy and rude.

Hood's sell low very low grade stuff. It was once a good place to go and get what you need but now its under new management. They still sell the same junk but for high prices. I say get what you need another place. Hoods was once a good place but not now.

I was in the store to purchase cabinets. The store MGR waited on me and my husband and was the rudest man I have met in 75 years. After wasting 2 hours of my time and theirs we walked out of the store. If I can find the district store for Hoods I will report this man. His name is Gene. We ended up going to Lowes to purchase the new cabinets we wanted for our home. I got them for 1/2 the price that Hoods offered and they are better cabinets. This man needs to retire or get out of the business because he is losing customers for Hoods. I would not recommend shopping at this Hoods!

I am really sorry you had a bad shopping experience at Hoods-Sikeston. I started Hoods in Sikeston many years ago. Probably 15 years ago or more. Things have changed a lot there within the past few years. We had a great cabinet business years ago so I am saddened to hear you had a bad experience. I am not sure if cabinets are still a major product line there or not. I haven't been in that store in years.

Unfortunately, I am no longer associated with Hoods. There is new Management in place within the past couple of years and I did not fit in with their plans. I was forced out and now am working in D.C. The new Manager or whatever he calls himself ( Ryan Courtois) is actually in charge of the operation and I believe has transformed the business into more of a furniture store. Ryan and the gentleman you mentioned Gene were good buddies when I worked there. Not sure if talking with him will do any good.

The owner of the business is Tim Meyer. You might want to speak to him. Probably not appropriate for me to post his # here but if you call the store they may give you his number.

Best of luck! And I am sorry you did not get the service you expected. I am glad you got what you needed at Lowes at a better price. Good customer service is critical to the success or failure of a business. Hopefully it was just a misunderstanding.

The next closest store to Sikeston will be Festus or Farmington. This is a "New Generation" of Hoods. I have received outstanding service from each and every employee that I have worked with. I cannot say enough about how great the management is as well. It is obvious they are focused on the customer and their needs. It's nice to walk into the New Generation Stores and see cabinets to the ceiling and tile stacked in rows that seem to go on forever than looking at a pretty vase on the edge of a sofa table.

If anyone is interested, I have their cell numbers. You can Google Ryan's but not sure about Tim's. Or you can find the together hiding at their love shack in Sikeston.

My Grandpa ordered new kitchen cabinets. They said they would be in no longer than 2 weeks. After they got his money they stopped caring. Told him it may take 3 more weeks. That's a total of 5 weeks. He is not happy.

Have you heard about them changing their name? "Renovations by J Hood"? Maybe it is because more and more people and companies are suing them. And the one south of town is becoming a lighting center?
