The NRA was awful quiet during the election they didnt take sides. Now we have this terrible shooting in Newtown and not a peep out of them. They need to get off their you know what and stop these politicans from passing more gun control which will do nothing but punish law abiding citizens

According to the news, this kid spent hours in his basement playing violent video games. Maybe the maker of those games need to say something.

I believe the NRA is going to release a statement Friday.

I imagine it will go something along the lines of:

Too bad about the kids but absolutely no new gun restrictions. Republicans will agree.

There will be no new gun restrictions.

We can only hope it goes like that.

Quote - "The NRA was awful quiet during the election they didnt take sides"

From OpenSecrets.org

RAs influence is felt not only through campaign contributions, but through millions of dollars in off-the-books spending on issue ads and the like. Following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the NRA supported proposals to arm airline pilots with guns. Between 2001 and 2010, the NRA spent between $1.5 million and $2.7 million on federal-level lobbying efforts. During the 2010 election cycle, the NRA spent more than $7.2 million on independent expenditures at the federal level -- messages that advocate for or against political candidates. These messages primarily supported Republican candidates or opposed Democratic candidates.

From CNN

During the 2012 election cycle, the NRA donated $719,596 to candidates. Republicans received $634,146 of that, according to the Center for Responsive Politics' analysis of federal campaign data. For example, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Virginia, ranked among the top five recipients, having received $7,450 in this cycle.

I didn't miss anything. I know the pres is not talking about video games and movies. But, someone ought to. Kids are growing up thinking that these games and movies are normal and o.k. It is not that much of a leap to go from fantasy to real life for some people. There has been to much of kids or young adults killing others these past few years. Do I blame the gun? NO. If people want to kill they will find a way. Do I blame the movies that glorify the bad guys? YES. Do I blame the video games these kids play they make it fun to kill people? YES.

I'm very well aware that more and more people are buying guns because they are afraid the pres. will make it illegal. What they need to buy is ammo for what they already own. I doubt if the government can outlaw guns, but they can make it really hard to get ammo for them.

90 to 95% of America's spree killings by firearm are perpetrated by white men and most of them never played video games.

I believe you correctly describe a parenting problem which contributes to the culture and mentality of many of those commiting these horrible acts. Wouldn't you believe it is the parent's duty to know and control what their child is watching and which games they're playing?

Faggy Communist liberals are the reason for mass shootings. These problems are new problem, when I was in school every truck had a gun in the back glass and every boys pocket had a knife in it. You know what changed? Faggy liberals have destroyed the moral fiber of the country! You don't want to work? Great, we'll feed you! You don't like God? Fine, we'll outlaw that ass! You're a man and you want to screw another man? Great, we'll even allow you to marry that queer! You faggy liberals have the blood of the masses, including the children in Ct, on your God forsaken hands.

It is the parents responsibility to know what is going on in their home. They cannot control what goes on in someone elses home. Many kids are living in a single parent home and whichever parent has them cannot control what goes on when the kids go to visit the other parent.

Lets face it, you do not expect your child to commit one of these acts. Many people like to play these games and most of them do not have a problem. But I think if your prone to think negative and have a anger issue these games and movies make you worse.

Anti-NRA, anti-gun and anti-USA fools need to study history. Real history. Quit searching for utopia...it doesn't exist.
