i call them moon ckrickets and i am conviced they are sent from hell. little bastards are quick too. best method i've found for killing them is the shoe throw. you have to practice though. once alerted they can jump and hide pretty quick. also, i kicked my crazy girlfriend out and the number of sightings decreased dramaticaly.

They look like a cross between a spider and a cricket. Long legs like a spider and a big cricket body.

I didn't know what these insects were, so I Googled them and found info on wikipedia.com . There is some info about getting rid of them too.

found this on the internet... hope it helps...

The best way to control camel crickets is to really change the environment so that there is no place for them to hide, and nothing for them to eat. You also need to begin the process of sealing your home against unwelcome visitors such as these.
Outside, remove excess mulch and piles of leaves. Camel crickets hide under debris of any kind, as well as piles of rocks, bricks, firewood, etc. If you are storing a bunch of stuff in your basement, they will hide amongst it all as well as feed on the boxes!

Both the crickets and the spiders are nocturnal. They and ALL of their buddies are sleeping all day long, ready to come out exploring and hunting at night.

Get yourself some Demon WP Insecticide at http://www.allpestexpress.com

Spray cracks and crevices in dark areas and corners of basements, closets etc. Works better than anything I have ever used.

These things are so nasty.. we have them in our basement and now have started to see a few come upstairs to middle level of house....... was told to pour bleach down drains/sinks and that will help cuz they lay eggs in drains....I did that and it lasted for about 6 months and they still came back. I hate these things so much!!!!.. My kids will not go in basement to play because of these nasty cave spiders....

I've always called them mutant crickets. I've never seen anything like that before I moved to Missouri. I thought it was a new species or something. I don't remember seeing them here as a kid but now they seem to be taking over. I had no idea that they bite or sting. Now I hate them even more. They're crawling all over my carport at night and in my laundry room. I can't even step on them because I'm afraid they'll jump on my leg.

Oh Man! I had those jokers in a house i used to live in. Nocturnal is right. I walked thru my house several times at night in the dark and they would jump on my legs, face and in my hair. I am aracnaphobic like crazy and those things look just like pregnant spiders. We call em spickets. I had one "chase" me once. Thru my house from the bathroom to my bedroom where i jumped on the bed and had my husband kill it! Nazi lil creatures. I would sweep up piles of dead ones that i stomped on, sprayed, squashed with a broom, or threw something at. I never did figure out a way to keep them out of my house. We tried mothballs, year round pesticide, bleach down drains and around doorways, caulking around windows and doors, and a few other home remedies that did not work. Good luck! I'm curious to see if you find something that works. Careful cuz some of those things get big enough to use a shotgun on! Just kidding. Keep us posted.

We have been invaded by these little creatures. Mostly in my basement, I think I have a nest - they are ugly quick and appear harmless. I have sent up glue traps and catch about 10-20 a week. Next step I am getting an exterminator.
