Will TPM cut maintinance jobs? Will 5s make it easy for jo smoe to walk in off the street and perform any job in the plant?I feel our days are numberd old timers.Unilever has almost 100 percent outsourced labor in the plants outside the U.S.

if the outside labor is like SOME not all of the spherion workers they hired so far it will go out of business.they dont show up for work, they leave for dr.s appointments, job interviews and just because they feel like it which leaves us short but thats ok with the heads of spherion.the workers they had last year that they cant hire back was better than these lazy people.not all of them but most.they are supposed to get only 3 days of call in for 90 days but most of them has already went way past that and they have only been there 3 weeks.jim duncan needs to be fired

This is how unilever is going to cut down on labor costs get rid of everyone that's full time and outsource all labor. This way they can control how much everyone makes. Everyone that has made it to the top pay better be getting their finances together as so not to lose everything.Surely every employee can see the writing on the wall.

The other week they brought in 30 Spherion workers and only 6 could pass the drug test !!!!!! What is up with that, some people just don't want to work? Easier to draw a check I guess. 6 out of 30 WTF !!!!!!!

Some of those Spherion workers really needed that job. You need to get off them. If the plant would hire people that want to work they would not have to go through Spherion. They get 1000 hrs then they have to go. Your plant is not smart enough to keep the ones that want to work and weed out the others. So if they get a chance for a job interview they need to go, they don't have a chance to stay there.

This is all Unilevers big plan (Spherion). Most handpackers don't like it either, on our line we have had some really good people come in this year and will hate to see them go before 1000 hours. It's not fair to us or them. We put the effort to train them and they have really put the effort to learn and be a part of our team but Unilever has screwed up keeping good workers up. As far as interveiws I don't blame them but do it before work, it's hard on everyone running a line short. As far as Jim Duncan he's clueless or he would stick around for 2nd shift every once in awhile.....

That's excatly what it is. They want a step-by-step playbook (known as an S.O.P.-Standard Operating Procedure) for every line in both plants, and everything organized to the point that anyone at any time could fill the spot without any production interference. It probably won't cut maintenence jobs though (someone has to work on the robots).

Didn't they say that they wanted one uniform way of doing business across all the plants and companies within Unilever? There's your answer.

He's an idiot who's already been fired. Spherion is actually Barry Goehn's brain child, he LOVES Spherion and is hell bent on keeping them in there. He's the one who is in charge of TPM as well.

who="guest"]5s is a f-----]It is a joke, the place will b lucky if it last another 5 years. Management sucks and theres no body you can go to because no one cares anymore. People walk off lines, they joke and laugh and very few care about the job. There is no management around so they do as they please. It use to b a good place but now its on a down hill spiral.
