They will not be closing! The Jaycee's just pulled out and walked away from the note! That means that private owners now can take full control of the club and make the corrections needed to improve the locations.

Inside and out the location needs to be updated!

The jaycees did not own the club, they owned the land. The county club got themselves into a mess and now they have a group of investors that are willing to take on everything and go in together to improve and keep the club going. For them to do that they would need the jaycees to deed them the land, to my knowledge this has not been done yet! lets hope it does happen so that this town doesnt loose another bussiness

The club is just like the rest of the town. A slow slide off the edge. If you can get out, do so. If you own a home the value will be half ten years from now. Collins has ran off more business than he could ever get back.

Watch it, punk. Collins has kept as much business as he possibly can. His business down in the pro shop and the actual clubhouse are two COMPLETELY different things. He can't control what goes on up in the club. He can have a say, but he doesnt control it. Yes, it's true the place is going downhill, but he has worked his BUTT off to keep the place going best he can. There have been sooooo many problems going on upstairs, and people leaving and getting fired and all that, but he is the one thing no one will get rid of. 19 seasons at the club? Must be doing something right!

He's the only thing that keeps the place up and running 3/4 of the time. Ask any member of the club. You'll get the exact same answer.

The Jaycees own the land and the Country Club building. They "purchased" it in the 1950's. The Club House was renovated 25 or better years ago. The Jaycees co-signed the note for the renovation funds.

That is funny. Why is the place in trouble then? If he is doing it 3/4 of the time maybe he ought to back off to 1/10. The place has been and will be for the so called upper crust and they are all getting pretty crusty. They made their bed a long time ago and now they have to sleep in it. It will be farmland in less than ten years growing watermelons. Maybe he can load melons for the next twenty.

The economy sucks dude. Nobody wants to see the place go under and they're doin all they can to keep it up. If you've ever actually been out there and paid attention, it's not the typical "upper crust" establishment. You just go out there to play golf and relax. It's not a place for snobs and rich people. As far as the watermelons go, you kinda sound stupid

Stupid? The sandy soil is great for growing watermelons. It is in a flood plane so nothing can be built there unless you build it ten foot in the air. Mark my words. It will be gone. If young people can't do it on a computer it won't get done, played, or whatever. The world is changing quick. Except watermelons. They are still the same. Was a member there many years. Mediocre then and less now sounds like.

But ya miss my money. And all the others. What they need to realize people want value for money spent. They want to be appreciated. All the years I was there sometimes I felt they were doing me a favor even letting me be there. Oh well. Time will tell.

I hope it doesn't go under even though I've only stepped into the place twice in my life.

In the 1980's the CC had over 500 members and a waiting list. Lots of older members and a ton of boomers. A lot of factors have contributed to the CC downturn. Although I dropped my membership years ago, I would hate to see it close. Elitist? Hardly. I have been in some very exclusive clubs over the years and the SCC had about the most economically diverse group imaginable. That was always the draw, too. Very affordable.
