Read the newspaper there is a story in there right now about a guy who was tried in Miss.co first and then five years I think later got a new trial in another county and what do you know the reliable witnesses for the state change their stories. There are a few other forums on here you can check out too. Where the prosecution based their case solely on unreliable witnesses and got convictions or shall we say railroaded the easiest suspect. Oh and it seems to be the common excuse for people on this forum and several others defending the police is that the prosecutors and judges aren't doing their part, that is why crime cannot be cleaned up in this area. Read some of the previous posts before you try to pick a fight with me!
So a prosecutor shouldn't EVER try a case because there is a possibility that a witness may change their story? That makes no sense. Justin Robinson was acquitted because the AG's office did a terrible job trying the case. All the other people mentioned on this site as it stands are still convicted murderers. You say these prosecutors based their cases on unrielable witnesses? Obviously various juries thought the witness were relaible based on their verdicts

There are a few very simple ways they could help the prison overcrowding. One legalize pot, it is no worse than alcohol and there are alot of people doing more time for pot posession than child molestors are. Two death sentences for child molestors, and actually carry out the executions there is no rehab for these frickin sickos so just get rid of them. Three start up chain gangs again don't let them sit around lifting weights and planning the crimes they intend to commit when they get parole. Last reform the judicical system, if prosecutors in this area are sending innocent people to prison and letting criminals walk then they need to be replaced by people who will actually do the job they are getting paid for.
This has got to be the best post I've read in a long while. While I don't smoke, I know numerous people that do and I've yet to see them commit a crime other than possessing pot.
I don't mean to go off on a rant here, but something is really wrong with this country when pot offenders are recieving the same or worse sentences than meth cookers, crack dealers, and violent criminals.
This is just my opinion...I could be wrong.

sikeston does not need that many cops. Half the time they are sitting at a gas station talking to someone or at rhodes running of the 16 years old. DO YOUR JOB AND GO TO THE WEST END YOU SISSIES. our cops in sikeston pulled my grandmother over for a licence plate light being out. I think that is a waste of money. Not to mention the crocked detectives

Mr. stown citizen. I believe you are right. We do NOT need ANY policeman. Especially the ones we have. These stupid COPS actually run into burning buildings and act like firefighters. We do NOT need these kind of people. We need just one Sheriff for the county that can run the county to include Sikeston. When he is not around we should handle our own problems. We would NOT need a court system. We shoot them they die. No trial, no jury of your peers no nothing. It would be much simpler. Why should we take steps forward when we can regress. Say NO to progress.

Yes part of I-55 is in the City Limits. I know this 100 percent. The MSHP will not work the accidents from I-55/57 intersection to St John's Ditch.

The COPS should not be at Rhodes making sure 16 year old kids are not buying cigarettes or alcohol. The local citizens should just shoot the young kids on the spot. Sagging pants, shoot them. Loud music, shoot them yourself. Break into your car, shoot them. It will work after the first dozen or so shootings, the word will get out fast. So as far as the west end goes, let them be. They will burn down the west end on their own. No Cops means nor Fire Fighters so who cares.

stown citizen I like your idea. I have plenty of guns and ammunition lets start playing Wild Wild West!!!

Bet when someone breaks in your house or steals your car the police will be your first thought and call. Complain if we didn't have enough not that we have too many!

You are wrong. Pot just usually gets you a fine unless you have a whole lot of it or are selling it. Just ask Conway

is up Conway's butt when it comes to the detectives? Did they bust your sorry ass? I should have realized you were nothing short of a criminal when you wanted Walter in for sheriff, all the criminals do, that gives them free rein in the county!!

TOO MANY POLICE OFFICE, YEAH, YEAH, RIGHT......WHY IS IT THAT ALL OF THE POLICE OFFICE ARE ABLE TO TURN THEIR LIGHTS ON TO GET THROUGH A STOP LIGHT AND THEN TURN THEM OFF AS SOON AS THEY GET THROUGH THEM? WHY IS IT WHEN THE SPEED LIMIT SIGN IS POSTED AND YOU ARE DOING THE SPEED LIMIT THAT A SIKESTON OR MINERS FINEST IS ABLE TO RIDE YOUR ASS TO SEE IF YOU WILL SPEED, DO YOU THINK MAYBE THIS COULD CASE A WRECK? OR HOW ABOUT THEM PASSING YOU DOING ABOUT 90 IN TOWN WITHOUT THEIR LIGHTS ON AND THEN WHEN THEY CAUSE A WRECK IT IS ALWAYS SOMEONE ELESES FAULT OR IT GETS SILENTLY BRUSHED AWAY? HOW ABOUT ALL THOSE POLICE OFFICERS DOING THEIR JOBS WHEN THEY ARE PILED ALL IN AT ONCE AT THE LOCAL RESTRAUNTS OR JUST CRUISING AROUND THE OUTLET MALL IN MINER..... WAY TO GO SIKESTON, WHAT A FINE POLICE FORCE WHO HAVE IN SIKESTON AS WELL AS MINER....MOST OF THE MINER POLICE OFFICERS ARE WANNA BES, WANNA BE A REAL COP CAUSE OUTLET MALL SECURITY WAS NOT CUTTING IT FOR THE........

It is my opinion that one can hardly critize the work of the Sikeston DPS until they have worked a shift on the street in their shoes. All you see is a one sided view of every situation. You have no idea where those officers are going at 90 miles and hour lights and sirens on. Maybe there going to your house, maybe your parent or family member just ad a medical emergeny. In 90% of medical emergency calls in Sikeston, DPS is first on the scene. Maybe your family was just involved in a terrible car accident God forbid. Perhaps it should be noted that there are more DWI arrest made off a licesne plate light being out than any other reason someone might be pulled over believe it or not. Think about that next time the person in front of a car carrying your family has a license plate light out. Whats the harm in it anyway, if you didn't know, you get let go with a warning. If your driving with a suspended/revoked license, DWI, have a warrant, ect...you go to jail, you probably deserve it anyway.

The simple fact of the matter is, police officers drive at least six of eight hours everyday working, that is more than most people drive in a week. Simple statistics will show they are bound to have an accident now and then. We have all had our fair share, I am sure. Even if you havn't ever had an accident, don't worry, you turn will come! As far as piling up at restraunts, I have never seen a lot of on duty police officers piled up at a restraunt, I usually see a couple but hey, they have to eat too.

As far as taking money away from Sikeston DPS to put into "Community Relations." I would like to see some community relations from the community before we start pumping city money into that campaign. Go take a walk down the 800 block of Ruth street, or cross the west tracks at all and shake a few hands. And for all you citizens living on the west end. Go on down to Plantation or up North Ranney meeting your fellow Sikeston neighbors before you critize to harshly. Sikeston, like any other growing city has it share of problems. Problems that are only going to go away if we work together as a city. Not depending on the city council, budget, or DPS, and not bad mouthing any of the above either.

Personally, this is the first and last time I will ever post anything on here. You all can have this site. I hope it gets shut down so that you sorry individuals will no longer have a anonymous back ally of internet forums to hide in.

I see that the much anticipated protest at DPS headquarters was marked with not a single person showing up to protest, TYPICAL!!!

Well, so long for now, I'm sure I'll will look forward to continually reading your tirades and rants on here and in speak out.

What a bunch of effin idiots! 1.Last time I checked, the only portion of interstate that runs through Sikeston is a small portion of I-55 and I-57 at the interchange. Miner has a small portion and Scott County has about 20 miles worth. Police Officers are sworn to uphold the laws of the State of Missouri, that includes the interstate. If you don't like being stopped, drive safer. 2. Illegal immagration is the responsibility of Federal Law Enforcement. Officers used to lock em up but the "Fed's" won't take em. Therefore, they no longer lock em up. I suggest you contact your State Rep for tougher immagration laws or vote republican. 3. You always say there are two many Officers until sh^% hits the fan. How bout the officers stay home and you handle the calls that you obviously know nothing about. I say hire twice what we have and give em all a raise.

You need to thank these people for putting their lifes in danger for, YOU! The things these officers have seen would make your body fall apart. To all law enforcement officers, keep up the good work. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU! Your brother officer.
