It really is a shame about the co-op because I think it is a little gem among others in Bisbee. I don't know what the problems are that have contributed to its demise. I think Rhorbach getting involved started the downward spiral. Then, the just weren't stocking fresh items. The baker and serving up fresh foods disappearing on a random basis didn't help. That was a great idea to serve soups, etc. there but just couldn't keep the great cooks in there. The shelves were not well stocked, blah, blah, blah. Nothing was consistent and in order to give your business even a chance you must try to be as consistent as possible. The co-op opens late for me in the morning so that was a big reason I stopped going aside from the lack of selection available. I hear the Sierra Vista co-op is wonderful and doing great. I haven't visited it yet because Fry's has a great selection of organic products with some very good discounts. But, I wish the co-op was thriving in Bisbee. I would go back if they opened earlier and got better organic products.

Over ten years going in and out for mostly dried herbs, for sure not produce. Maybe one item like a carrot now and then, but this has got to be the saddest looking produce I've ever seen consistently so throughout the years. It's just not the co-op, it's the Farmer's market produce, too. Do you really think a buck for a very small sprayed peach from Utah is fresh and local produce? Not much at either in the way of produce but the people are always nice.

One thing you folks at co-op should learn -- is ROTATION! No, I'm not talking about a game of pool, but a necessity in the grocery business.

I can see shopping elsewhere, I do most of the time, but boycott? are people in this town boycott crazy? It seems a bit of an overreaction. It's amazing how many people in this town know so much about how to run other people's busuness.

I would shop there more often if they wee opened earlier. Why in the world did they decide to open at 10:00am? You have to be consistent in your hours and keep your shelves well stocked. The Deli to go and the little cafe ideas were great but for some reason when they have something successful they stop it. Didn't they ever make any money to put back into the business to buy new refrigeration, etc.?

The people of Bisbee are the most pathetic obnoxious self indulged ignorant white trash in America. They should turn you into a reality tv show. And you'd love it. You worthless wastes of oxygen

I wouldn't put much stock in what this poster has to say. They can't even spell H-E-A-L-T-H-N-U-T. Those doors cost about 1/10th of the $15,000 you state. The Bisbee Food Coop has been in business for about 25 years and I doubt one less whiney customer will hurt them.
I agree
The Bisbee co op is an icon and one that is even spoken of in some of the Seattle co ops where I am visiting from.
Every time I am in Bisbee I look forward to stopping by and getting groceries and cooking items needed for the rental am staying in.
Oh and btw, the two co ops I frequent in Seattle are delighted to accept my Bisbee co op membership card for the specials and discounts they give to their own members.
I arrived yesterday fir the Pacefic Northwest ; I will be renewing my card after I go thru those auto doors once again .

Yes Bisbee is known for its image, not it's substance.
Not surprisingly it would only be an icon when discussed from over 2000 miles away.
Let us know how your shopping went this time Rainsong

Its gone. Bisbee has 2 junk stores left and a t-shirt place. About 10 bars and 5 resturants. That's it these days. Two of the resturants are on their way out. Only thing we got left is dive bars, drugs and gossip. It feels pitiful here. We are trying to find a job in Tucson or Phoenix to get out of here. Its depressing.
