The following was released by CBO on the 17th of this month acknowledging that the TRUE UNEMPOLOYMENT figures are actually 15%! It's truly a sad state of affairs when you can't belive a damn thing that comes out this WH!

Let's see, do we believe the non-partisan CBO or do we believe the right wing extremist Andrew Breitbart? That's a tough one.

From the CBO: Many people would like to work but have not searched for a job in the past four weeks, or are working part-time but would prefer full-time work. If those people were counted among the unemployed, the unemployment rate in January 2012 would have been about 15 percent.

Breitbart? What's that got to do with anything - He's only the messenger? Here's another source....

"A ‘real’ unemployment rate of 15% is absolutely unacceptable for any president. Especially when running for reelection, on the platform of the same failed policies.

The rate of unemployment has been above 8% since February 2009, making the past three years under President Obama the longest stretch of high unemployment in the United States since the Great Depression.

Additionally, the CBO reports that the unemployment rate in America will stay above 8% through the election of 2012 and even until 2014."

I know you right wingers want to see the economy fail, but isn't that kind of un-American?

Not very astute or perceptive of what's really going on. What's unAmerican, is what this clown is doing to this country! I suggest you read the link I supplied at the beginning...

We don't want this economy to fail, but we know it will fail under this president who hasn't a modicum of understanding how economies or business works.

He is a neophyte at the helm of this country -- likened to that cruise ship laying on it's side off the coast of Tuscany --- leaderless and rudderless...'Nuff said!

I like a lot of his ideas. He's stable, unlike the petulant bomb-thrower Mr. Newt. And he's not a recent convert to conservative ideas like Mitt.(But recent converts to conservative ideas should be welcomed, too, IMHO.)

But, Santorum's on thin ice with the "values" thing.

It's not that voters don't value values, I think its that we mostly want politicians & bureaucrats (ALL of them, no matter what party) meddling with them, dictating them. Most voters want politicians to MYOB. "get out of our way." "Leave us alone." "Don't tread on me." This partly explains why Obama's mandate on churches & contraception has blown up into such a mess - people don't like the government telling us to "do what you're told" - especially in a society that has a history of limited government & strong individual liberty.

For Obama, the church/birth control mandate issue is little more than a tempest in a teapot: about a third of the states already have such legislation in place. Catholics don't seem nearly as stirred up by this as the 'values' conservatives, who find a beacon of hope for reestablishing 'their' kind of America in Santorum's expressed moral opinions on contraception and homosexuality. With it's underlying layers of religious and moral fundamentalism, this is the tar-baby that Santorum has not only touched, but at least lightly embraced, and will remain stuck to, any struggle on his part to free himself being seen as betrayal.

Romney will likely prevail in the nomination, but he's lacking the qualities needed to win the election. His recent "I love Michigan" speech came across like one of Charlie Sheen's desparate "I'm a winner" litanies. Romney definitely looked like he was cracking under the pressure. Bad show. Too bad, Mitt.

Do you think there are, or should be, any limits on what the government can order people to do?

Absolutely. Such as, I don't believe the government should make children study 'Creation Science.'

I think it would offer more choices to parents at the local level. I'm pro-choice.

Do you mean 'School Choice' voucher programs? But that is straying far from the subject.

To clarify my comment about Creation Science, it was in reference to the yearnings of a substantial bloc of religious fundamentalists who would have it taught in taxpayer-funded public schools, establishing through state-sponsorship their own religious dogmas in the minds of America's children.

That comment was an admittedly facetious response to the 'More Fact Checking' query about my beliefs on government control of citizens' lives. If that writer was suggesting that I sanctioned government meddling in our lives, he misconstrued it from my "tempest in a teapot" comment, which was nothing more than personal observation and speculation on how this church/contraception matter is going to play out... probably more adversely for the conservatives who have jumped into a melee over it, than for Obama.

Actually, I thought it was a pretty good observation.
