Anyone have Info on silver spur ranch? I was going to buy 120 acres there off of county road 1111 south of I-10. The ad says there is power down the county road 1111 is this true, AND IF SO How much it will cost to set a power pole? If anyone could give me any info about the property about drilling wells or what power would cost?....ANYTHING you can tell me I WOULD REALLY BE THANKFUL!... I need to know fast. THANKS ALOT! Donna

I was going to say that there is TONS of land being sold weekly and it seems never ending (don't get caught up in the last minute auction style fever)...there will be more land for sale there and you are only bidding on the down payment. I bought 2 lots of 5.51 acres (11.02 acres total) outright at auction. Our land is about 12 miles south of Van Horn. I got mine for $109.00 an acre plus $249.00 fee per lot. We are happy with our purchase and would not sell. Some say that the land isn't even worth that...it is to us! The land you are looking at is going for roughly $460.00 an acre. On Geronimos auctions, this is common. Other sellers do similar things, but Geronimo is the only one I remember that sells big lots like that with those terms. I also heard of a plae called Sunset Ranches that does the same kind of sales, but have heard some bad things about them. If owning 120 acres is your thing, then you will not find land cheaper anywhere! In fact, you will probably be getting a better location with this particular area. I have heard of folks buying large chunks of land like this, but it is land-locked (all the land around it is owned by someone else with no road access). This set looks like it is right off a road with several of the lots touching the road. THIS IS GOOD! The history of the land sales around Hudspeth County seem to have been going on since the seventies! It appears that some folks buy the land, can't find it, or sell it back at a loss, or let it go in a tax auction and such...the land sellers seem to recycle some land over and over! Some folks stick it out and keep it by living on it or using it as a vacation spot. That is not a bad location. I have not been down that way so I can not speak intelligently on that road itself, but you are close enough to I-10 to have access to just about anything, within reason. There is mixed speculation as to the water table there, so getting anyones advise on a well is a shot in the dark. The only folks that can help you there are your neighbors...they would know. You can always have water trucked in and stored in plastic tanks and also catch the water as it falls off your roof(s) in water catchment areas like cisterns and such. Solar power and wind turbines are a serious consideration there with generator back-up. This is an option if the power lines do not go out that way...just in case. I would buy the land myself if I had the money...if that tells you anything. It would be worth it to me. |
