their will never be a college in this town, brings to many crooks and crime, their is not enough bars for them to hang at, and they will never open any new bars, thiers not enough work to suport college kids that have to work at least part time, we can't even keep the ones around here working that wants work, so it all sounds good, but if someone has that kind of money to invest, their not stupid enough to throw it away here in sidney !.....

In an article not long ago, the commissioner said if you wanted to further your education, all you had to do is drive down the road to any university or college out of Shelby County. That means you take your tuition & room & board & other expenses out of the area to help build up another community. That's a financial drain on the local economy because you're sending money somewhere else, with no return on your investment. Even if it's a college loan or scholarship. Money in, money out !
We are funding other communities. Now, if local leaders want you to spend education dollars somewhere else, might as well buy goods and services somewhere else. Buy that vehicle in Miami or Auglaize, Allen, Montgomery County's and they can benefit from the sales taxes collected. Don't buy local !

You're spot-on with everything you said. I'd vote for you in a heart beat. With Shelby County on UNOH's radar, approached by the right person might sway them to pull the trigger. They will be running out of development space between Cable & Eastown, soon. Dr Jarvis is a visionary.
The Fair Road tract is very appealing to most of those institutions and some businesses. But with dead-head politicans, this community will suffer and die a slow death on the vine. The article challenges young professionals to step up and take on the legacy, past real civic leaders took on. I think third and fourth community generations are taking their inherited wealth and running. Past generations invested in their community to make it stronger. You see their great efforts in legacy projects throughout Shelby County.
The article guy talked to investment groups who had investment dollars, but the groups passed on Shelby County because of the lack of local interest and competency. Three criteria: Want, Need and does the community Deserve. We didn't meet any of them. And they moved-on to another community that did.

I see the Sidney complainers are at it again. Why don't you be part of the solution, not the problem. I am sure there are a group of civic-minded individuals that you can join and as a group address these issues instead of complaining about them on a public forum. Is it any wonder investers don't want to come to your community with the mind set that is being displayed here?

Lol....sound familiar Free? Practice what your preach. ha ha ha
