I think they should look a little closer to home for the truth about where Sidney is.Some of the mothers comments sound more like a jealous woman than a concerned mother. Why(if she really did suspect something going on with her current husband and Sidney)didn't she do somthing about it.

The whole story of waking-up in the middle of the night and finding her husband gone, then first checking the boys room?...If she thought somthing was up with her husband and Sidney, why not check Sidneys room first?....sounds suspicious to Me.

Perhaps because of where the rooms were located as compared to her own bedroom? If I was looking to see what was going on and why my spouse was not in bed, I might check on my children as I passed each of their rooms and as I moved through the house looking for my husband.

I get the feeling that many of her concerns are from hindsight and at the time she was not seeing the big neon blinking red flags til AFTER John and Sidney were gone.

She made that statment early-on in a TV interview...As a retired investigator,I'm a little skeptical.Did the sherffs dept check her(the mother)for GSR?(gun shot residual)...Maybe she shot the husband and killed her own daughter out of jealousy!

I don't know who judged My response as spam and nuts,...but it's apparent they don't know much about law-enforcement and investigations...Everyone is a suspect until ruled other-wise.
Many cases have shown that that a woman can be just as violent as a man when it comes to jealousy, rather it be another woman or even her daughter.

in every child abduction case, the parents are suspect. this one more so than others with allegations of sexual abuse.

I think the trained officers, State Police, FBI, State Crime Lab and others in search and rescue are smarter than us on topix. Let them do their job. Lets us do our lay searches and be observant.

Forensics from the truck, the step-dads clothes & body can tell alot. Not only can semen be obtained from a females body but fluids samples on a males private area can be used to determine if intercourse or oral happened (DNA). His clothes and debrie on the truck may reveal a location as well as any DNA evidence inside or in the bed of the truck. I would not have much confidence in local LE but with trained LE professionals involved with the case there is hope.

Here's another possible scenario...Cornell(the step-dad)took Sidney out in his pickup truck and tried to rape her...Sidney found Cornells gun in his truck and shot him...She gets scared and runs off, affraid she will be charged with murder. This is a tragic event no matter what the out-come will be.I do believe that when the truth comes out, everyone will be shocked and surprised with the end results.

With the information released by LE, this theory is impossible. The statements released by LE say that Cornell was found 200 ft from his truck dead of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound...the weapon beneath his body. There is no way this 85 lbs girl could have drug him that far from the truck. Also, statements from LE claim there is no evidence whatsoever tying Sidney to the area where Cornell was found.

A person can do strange things when they about to expire. She could have shot him and got away. He may have had enough strength left to get out of the truck and attempt to pursue her.Other-wise why would he have been out of the truck when found? We can guess all we what. If I were younger and healthier,I'd be over there helping to find her.I have grand daughters. I shudder to think what I would do if anyone hurt them.

I agree wih you, LE.
It could turn out to be any of a number of things.
When I first heard on the news that a teen girl was missing and her stepdad had been found shot dead, I automatically assumed they were going to say the girl shot him and then run off.

Seems things like that happen a lot.

Instead, they said he was a suspect in her disappearence.

Now, if it had happened like that, I would think she'd took the money.
Also, if it happened like that, i would have thought she'd taken the truck, too.
Or she could have had someone helping her with their own vehicle.

As far as WHY she would have done it, it could be for the same reason lots of other kids have killed a stepparent.
And, if she or a helper killed him, it doesnt mean anything wrong was going on in their home, so we will just have to wait and see how it really happened-- if we ever DO.

Maybe whoever was helping her dragged his body, but then, again, someone COULD have forced him to walk out in the field.

Or maybe he was trying to get away and was running thru the field. Was he shot in the back?

We must keep in mind the missing child is an 8th grader...not likely to be capable of pulling off some type of mastermind plan for vengence.

The current time table we have is this...

Saturday/Sunday
10pm-mother goes to bed, tells daughter goodnight
330am-mother awakes to realize daugher and spouse gone
5isham-stepfather pulls in drive, mother tells him daughter is missing, he says "bulls*it" and gets the hell out of dodge

Monday
130pm?-stepfather found in field, 200 ft from truck, weapon beneath body, LE alleges of self inflicted gun shot wound

Days Following
AM/PM-LE releases statements saying there is NO evidence Sidney Randall was in/around area where John Cornell was found

Nobody could have helped her move the body or forced him to walk out into the field to shoot him in the back...neither had their cellphones with them...thus, there is no way she could have summoned someone out to the country to assist her.

If you want to believe that she ran away and he went to find her...how would he have known to go to this spot? Neither had their cellphones to contact the other.

She disappeared, he tried to come home and creep in bed...he was caught redhanded by the mother. He realizes he's going to obviously be the prime suspect and that the gig is up.

im not going bash anyone but i do have concerns about a police department or county sheriff that dont deal with this type of case. all we can do is hope and pray for the best.
