I solved my Verizon problem by switching to Time Warner for the phone too.
When I was using dial up for the computer, Verizon told that the 60% noise on my line was acceptable....... With TW the last time were were out (Storm related) they were there in three hours to repair the damage.

Verizon didn't arrive for three days.(So the guy down the road had to use our phone....)

I still get calls from Verizon asking me to switch back..... Hey, good luck on that one guys. I don't need to go to some stinking meeting, I speak with my wallet........

I switched to Time Warner as well. When I had Verizon high-speed internet, it was often down and I eventually figured out how to get it to work myself when it would go down. Also, after I canceled, I ended up overpaying because they made a mistake and sent me a second bill. They actually owe me about 5 bucks still. That was a year ago and I don't expect to see it, even though I had to make a million calls and wait for hours on the phone to correct their mistake. What upsets me is that it's a one way street...meaning, if I owed them 5 bucks, my service would be shut down.

Hey, in December - January of this year I was without
phone service for 31 days. Verizon kept sending people out saying "it's fixed", and still had problems. Complaints to the MA DPU got the "we'll talk to Verizon" response.

At the same time, Verizon came to my house 4 times to push this FIOS stuff, I told them I didn't want it, and was told "you have no choice".

Verizon sucks.

VERIZON's new scenario is to stop supporting copper and DSL lines, and go 100% with fiber optic (FIOS) and wireless. A number of states have filed law suits against VERIZON for the lack of support also.
