Definitely John Whisler. As far as I know, He is still the only 2-time State Champion.

The family award goes to the haynes family. I also think one of the haynes boys won the state champ in MO. and then in NEB. after moving here.

My heart's with John - but my money is on ...

WADE GOERING.

And I agree with the Haynes family reference. All are tougher than hell.

lets think about it...
Seth Groff is the Dan Gable of Auburn Nebraska...
he placed 4 times at state and if any of you went to the sports banquets you would know he holds more records at auburn than any other wrestler...sure he may have given the reach around to win a couple matches...but he went on to college and is now even a coach

Seth was a great wrestler but I think Dave Peters went to state all 4 years and placed. The only reason he doesn't have the records is because the first year of High School he wrestled for Columbus High School. You would also need to talk to Lonnie and Charlie Haynes about what they did in Mo. before moving here.

I don't think the Haynes boys went to school in Missouri. They went to Southeast Consolidated before moving to Auburn. Lon won the gold at State at least 2 times. Maybe this could be checked out in the Auburn annuals at the Library.

You sure? I thought Charlie said they went to school in MO. Didn't know Southeast Con. had wrestling.

the best wrestler i believe is no longer in auburn but went with his mother after the divorce. the best i've ever seen is will harpam? i think he is a senior this year or next year. would forget watching my son just to go to wills mat and watch in amazement. a true testament to proficency and skill. how many husker games championships? didn't he win every competition he was in? that isn't just a champion. that's a legend.
