There are lots of places hirng, and at fairly decent wages. Unfortunately, none of them are anywhere near Auburn.

Why would my comment of "Do you have any skills.." be judged "Spam/Clueless/Nuts" ? Seriously ... do you have any skills because yes there are a lot of places hiring - but WHAT CAN YOU DO? You don't expect someone to hire you without giving any input to your qualifications, your goals, your abilities. What can you do? Can you type? Can you do manual labor? Do you need a desk job? Are you in high school or have you graduated/have a GED? Are you a college grad? Have you any past work experience? What kind of job are you interested in. jeeze. I happen to know of a nice small shop looking for a mechanic to work on restaurant/small business soda/coffee/tea machines ... do you have any skills?

Your comment was tagged spam/clueless/nuts for the same reason this one will be, too. There is some dimwit out there who marks everything he or she reads here as spam/clueless/nuts. Don't take it personally. It only means that the spam/clueless/nuts queen has struck again.

Finding a job in Auburn or in any of the surrounding communities that could support a family is impossible. If you are lucky enough to find a job (and it will not be a professional position because we don't have those here) it will pay you maybe $10 an hour IF you are lucky! Also, it will not offer benefits and will only be part-time.

A college degree doesn't help you around here either. So if you are planning on staying here the rest of your life and are thinking about college...save the money because there are NO jobs here that will pay you enough to be able to pay off student loans!

Most employers in the area that do offer professional positions DO NOT hire local people to fill these positions. They will hire someone from the east or west coast before they will hire you. The professional people they hire then live in Omaha or Lincoln....basically anywhere but Auburn! They stay for a year, maybe two and never call Nebraska home.

Auburn offers nothing for young families. Our population will continue to decline and we will see more moving trucks transporting our young people out of town.
