Loganville recently hired Southern Regional Police on a part-time basis to help curb the costs proposed in the bill.

Tombessi says....
There is little crime in Loganville, and crime that does occur is mainly minor, he said.

So let me get this right Tombessi, little crime in Loganville, but you need to spend OUR tax dollars to hire another Police dept????

"Tombesi said if the borough is to be charged, then state police should have to start enforcing local ordinances.
Now there is the reason for the tax increase for Tombessi to have his private PD on stand by for his private enforcement. The guy on the bike who was selling pictures, better watch out! Because Tombessi's PD is coming! Plus you will also now have to pay the increased cost to the PSP and they will still be the PD handling all 911 calls.

nice way to free up state cops to write more speeding tickets. what is the main purpose of police, safety or income? nice informative article though.

We already pay for state police. Why do we have to pay twice?

Simply because WE have our OWN police department and pay for IT, but must ALSO pay for PSP! About damn time, especially the 'free loading' southern portion of York County, begins paying like the MAJORITY of York County! Ironically, one group complains about not enough being done about speeders on Interstates/local roads, and the next group complains that PSP will be 'freed up' to arrest more speeders. F' ing nuts cases galore!!!!!

Its about time these freeloaders start paying for police protection! Heck, I live in West York, I pay my boro tax for our police and I am also paying state tax to pay for some state trooper to keep all the freeloaders in Shrewsbury and the rest of the county that get it right now for free!

Funny how this reporter made absolutely NO MENTION of all the residents that live in the city, boroughs and/or townships that are paying for TWO police departments, our own and we are paying for STATE POLICE too! And when was the last time the rest of us saw a Trooper (that we also pay for!) Actually patrol or perform any enforcement activity whatsoever in any area that has its own local PD?

I say tax the he'll out fo these freeloaders that the rest of us are helping pay and havebeen paying for years, just so they can have the troopers!

Heck, Shrewsbury has over 6,000 residents, a few large shopping complexes and those shrews down there think we are gonna buy their story that they have little or no crime, just a few minor violations!?!?

Well, this guy didn't just fall off the turnip truck! And I ain't buying their homecooked hogmaw and I have no pitty for them neither!

Time to pay up you freeloading Baltimorons and imbred pig farmers!

Pay your fair share, Shrewsbury Township. You have one of the largest shopping centers in the southern part of the county, and many housing developments. Stop sponging off the rest of the taxpayers in the commonwealth.

Because we ALL pay for the PSP, stupid. When the PSP is spending time taking care of matters that should routinely be handled by local police in your municipality, they are not able to perform services for the state at large.

EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID ABOVE! TIME FOR SHREWSBURRY, FAWN, DELTA, WELLSVILLE, PEACHBOTTOM AND THE REST OF YORK COUNTY TO PAY THEIR DUE!
WHY SHOULD THE REST OF US PAY DOUBLE? WHY SHOULD THE REST OF US PAY FOR LOCAL POLICE AND STATE POLICE AND HAVE THE STATE POLICE TAKE OUR HARD EARNED TAX MONEY AND SPEND ALL THEIR TIME DOWN IN SHREWSBURY?
I HARDLY IF EVER SEE THE STATE POLICE ON 83 OR 30 PATROLLING AND DEALING WITH THE RECKLESS DRIVERS AND CARELESS TRUCK DRIVERS! WHY? BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO DAMN BUSY HANDLING ALL THOSE "MINOR CRIMES" DOWN IN SHREWSBURY!
TAX THOSE WHINERS PANTS OFF! AFTER ALL THE REST OF US HAVE BEEN BENT OVER AND TAKING IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE FOR TOO DAMN LONG FOR THOSE SPOILED BRATS!

This is why I say give the sherrifs department more pwer and then they can patrol the county at large.
And to answer some stupid remarks above, The state county police would take care of the areas in
Also the stae police mostly can only patrol state hiways and US higways unlesss an agrement is stated.
But as I said before I think a county policing is the way to go. as like in neighboring staes.

Is your syntax perfect? I think giving the sheriff's department full police powers is an excellent idea. If you ever watched Cops you would know that a lot of states give the sheriffs full police powers. Pennsylvania is the only backward state in the country.

Yeah right, "JohnnyDoehead IQoooo69", I NEVER pay "SIN-TAX" as I do NOT frequent those establishments. lol... Oh my, "COPS", another freak basing his explanation on a TV program. Just one teeny example how the county stuff works. Living sixty (60) miles away from the City of LA, a friend of mine has LA COUNTY (sheriff) POLICE protection. This costs huge bucks. Because of the COUNTY DEAL, He pays the same auto insurance rates as living in the CITY of LA...is that what you wish. Also, CA must collect the bucks for such a fiasco somewhere; thus, for ONE (1) vehicle plate,($685), PA license plate ($36). Watch what you wish for, you may just receive it. Shut up people, don't give Harrisburg anymore ideas than they already have!!! Now get back to your cops tv Johnny Doehead!

Correct, that is why the garbage, like you and I, uh, PLUS THEM, have moved to the Dispatch. Dispatch also will soon charge $5.00 per month for the benefit of our posting stupid material. Then will drop TOPIX as did YDR and also go to the login. I'll be cancelling ALL YORK NEWSPAPER subscriptions, from the $5.00/mo. fee to YDR, to the delivered Dispatch/Sunday news. They most surely do not wish to read this crap and a definite DELETE by the TOPIX aholes!!!

Hey Solomon you need to pull your head out of your azz. There is no way that the county will go for the subdivision contracting local police the 911 center is busy enough and now you want them to ask calls what subdivision they live in. Get a clue. Just contract local pd so I don't have to pay the psp fee and get the same lousy coverage

Here a thought. Why don't we just have a York county police dept and get rid of all these local dept. It would make life a lot easier and we would all pay the same amount

What would Sheriff Andy Taylor say about this?

Would Barney Fife be out of a job?
