Yet many claim Worc is such a great place while its crime stats drive more and more middle/upper class families into the burbs. Keep bringing in Section 8 housing city council, keep bringing in people who have no investment in the neighborhoods and they will treat them like garbage as they know they can just transfer to a new property and wreck that one too. I lived on Vernon Hill (Lund St) in the 80s and its was a crack haven then, now its even worse, crack AND gang violence. But yes, more section 8 and low income housing is the answer!

Who ever said Worcester is "great place to live"? I've never heard anyone say that and I've lived here for over 50 years. In the 70s there were murders every week in GBV. Drugs, prostitution, corrupt cops, politicians. its now the destination for anyone with Handiapped , ADHD kids. Black and hispanic population has exploded over the last 30 years., making Worcester a hopeless ghetto permanently. Sorry to burst your bubble..........

People on the city council claim Worc is the best city in new england to live in, "its an All American City", its a dump. Too many absentee landlords and too much section 8. People dont care about their stuff if they arent invested in it which is obvious by the trash strewn all over Vernon Hill. I dont care if you rent or own. You should have enough pride to pick up the paper and trash that blows onto your lawn. not just walk past it and let it ruin your neighbors yard in the next wind gust. Years ago it was very different, there was a sense of pride and community. Today's entitlement mentality shows us that poor planning, poor life choices and lack of respect for your fellow neighbor is rewarded with free rent, free heat, no taxes, free health care, free food, free childcare, ect...instead of frowned upon. Im all for helping people in need, but when people dont have enough pride or respect to clean up their own 10x30 foot front yard, you can imagine what it looks like inside the house. Im willing to be that if that same person was to be paying $1,000+ a month in mortgage, the condition of their property would be much different.

It been rumored that a Worcester policeman shot the kid. Then covered it up.

Interesting. That fits with something else I heard, but now it makes some sense.
