I told ya so.
Weeks ago I posted that the decision had already been made to locate the Community College downtown. Now we can officially add $23 million to what's already been thrown away in that land of desolation. I say $23 million but as in the past, there'll be millions in additional expenses.
Watch closely now for where they're going to locate it.The dummy corporations will be formed, palms greased, political debts formed and the taxpayers who watch it all happen will pay the bills.
Add one more lie to the long list of projects that'll "revitalize" downtown.
Ironic,$23 million for a failed coliseum....$23 million for a college in a downtown wasteland.
23 must be the new politically correct figure!
This one's in the bag.
The downtown think tank is probably already at work on the next promise of success.

You are correct. Lets see who will get the big bucks for property that has not been marketable until now. All that downtown property is owned by old families, with old money. I am betting The Silver family, and others that own parts of downtown will get rich, I mean richer.
The state owns land all over the city and parish that would have been a better fit. On Vandenburg near England Air Park there I property that would make a great location for anyone to access, even the POOR. Then, there is the airpark, plenty of locations there.

Yes, someone is going to get mighty rich over this brother-in-law deal.

Travelers on I-49 speed through Alex not knowing there's a city to the west. They see a couple of motels at the England Air Park exit and a Cracker Barrel restaurant.
Other than that there's nothing.
All the hype offered for relocating I-49 downtown and building taxpayer funded projects there has been forgotten.

I believe insanity is described as repeating the same act over and over, expecting a different result.
That speaks volumes for our decision makers.
we are stupid

Yep! I predicted this months back. They(media & elite power hungry politicians of alexandria) have been telling us since the 1980's that this is good for us to invest in downtown. It began with the bentley. All really has never came to any decent fruitition. Examples, bentley, hotels, housin g,Quein on red, other real estate flops. Remember the politcal angle they spun of of I-49 coming thru Alex downtown. "We must seize this opportunity to invest in downtown. Since this we have this opportunity put in our lap. Almost all a giganitic flop. WHAT HAPPENED! BUT NO, WE ARE GOING TO AGAIN ACCEPTED WHAT THE POWER GROUP POLITICIANS & MEDIA SAY IS THE GOSPEL. EVEN THOUGH OVER THE PAST 20 YRS IT HAS YET WORKED. WE ARE JUST OUT RIGHT STUPID TO ACCEPT IT AGAIN. WE ARE GETTING WHAT WE ASK FOR!

Today's Town Talk contains info from the Editorial Staff regarding the planned community college.
Conspicuously absent is its typical gushing endorsement for the chosen location, downtown. For decades their editorials have touted the wisdom of locating taxpayer projects in the downtown area with promises of revitalization.
Never happened. Never will.
Anybody with an I.Q. over 75 would agree with said editorial that there are benefits with furthering learning opportunities in the community.
However, in this case we can call the new CC an oasis of knowledge.....located in the middle of a desert of dilapidated surroundings. The new building, just like other recent projects will eventually be swallowed up by the sands of abandonement.
Then too, the the current CC building will be abandoned adding to the negative scenery on South Macarthur Dr.
But what the heck, the property owners affected by the downtown project will walk away with a sack full of money and no more worries.
