Seems like it's going to cause a lot more problems than anyone is really considering. Growing up around the rittman area, I frequently used the old trails between rittman and sterling for atv riding as many others still do. It was nice to have a place to ride that others weren't vandalizing resulting in the dreaded gates. Over the 15+ years that I have been riding there, I have never heard any complaints from locals, police, or railroad. As of last week, the trail was still being used by myself and three other riders that I met that day while on those trails. I can guarentee that, without heavy security patrol, the new trail while be vandalized by the youth that now have nowhere to ride. Up until now, the trail has been used by atv's, bicyclists, joggers, hikers, etc. Now it is going to be a sidewalk through some woods and fields. I don't ride atv's as much as I did when I was younger but it is irritating to see that any trail that was safe to ride on then is getting closed due to people who do not obey "tread lightly". At least there was not a large amount of my tax dollars funding a pointless project. Spend the money to clean up some of the trashy drug-infested areas of Rittman.
