This was by far the DUMBEST idea Henrico County could have ever had. Why in the world would they have drawn up a plan that slices into neighborhoods and runs this road right up to homeowners' properties. My gosh, the noise, the dirt, mud and dust are awful. I don't see where this project has done anything other than decrease a whole lot of property values. Shame on Henrico County.

"qualify of life..."

I still can't believe they didn't take an interstate exit straight to Short Pump Mall... That's what they really need.

It always amazes me when people buy a house and then the building starts around them.Like they thought it would be the same as when they bought it forever.Makes me think of the first people to chesterfield way back. What make people think because you buy a house in short pump it will be different?Folks in 15-25 years your $300,000 house will be worth 150,000 and will be surrounded by section 8 and run down apartments just like the rest of our once nice west end neighborhoods. So enjoy it while you can and when its gone you can just move on to the next newest neighborhood and the cycle will continue. Is the Henrico county way, forget the old just build up the new.

I live on Blandfield...I highly doubt that the property values here will drop so severely.... and the houses in this neighborhood are $300K because of the crappy market, most of these homes were valued between the $350-425K mark, but fell due to the market and road being built right behind it....

And to add insult to injury, the county will not be providing privacy fencing although a new highway will be what marks the end of my backyard...

I doubt anyone thought Henrico would forever stay the same. I'll bet they did think the county would have exhibited better judgment in the building of this road. It's cut right through what were once nice, quiet, well established neighborhoods.

The John Rolfe Parkway was first identified in a study initiated in 1966. The Henrico Board of Supervisors first included the John Rolfe Parkway within our Major Thoroughfare Plan in 1979. As the far west end has developed, Henrico has reserved much of this corridor in anticipation of this project. The John Rolfe Parkway will be a major component in improving the traffic flow in the far west end. They had this planned before the houses where built. Stop complaining, should have done some homework before you went and paid for a 400k house! You got 2 new schools and still had a temper tantrum when they gave you 3 zoning plans for the them and they did not suit your standards. You got your way because you either paid people off or cried til you got your way! Henrico County is rapidly expanding area. New schools, housing and business development plans are being made daily and more and more people are moving to the far west end. If you have money for a 400k house, you have money to pay for a privacy fence! Plus when the next hot new neighborhood is built somewhere else and you want to be the envy of your friends, you will just sell your house and move there. So stop complaining, you moved out to the hot new spot!

I have no dog in this fight. However, I travel through the area quite a bit. I think this is all poor planning. I see congestion moving from one area to another and nothing having been accomplished other than ruining a lot of neighborhoods and property values.
