Does anyone know if a NEW business is coming to replace the "old" Bean Encounter in Minooka?

All I heard was that a liquor license was applied for that address and approved.

From what I understand it is supposed to be a steakhouse type of a restaurant. Should be opening sometime late April early May.

It is going to be a higher end steakhouse named Odonjos. My son had a job interview there a few weeks ago.

Odonjo's. Hopefully a sorely needed establishment that will employ many Minookians. But there's a big story brewing about just how small this town really is. Odonjo's should have opened in early March, with the Village of Minooka's seal of approval, liquor license etc. Guess what happened next.
The Minooka Fire Protection District.( Go get a beer & some popcorn before you read further!)

Apparently the Minooka Fire Protection District has issues with the building. You might think that the MFPD might be more concerned with Skinny's or Cookies catching the whole “downtown” ablaze from an errant fart, but no, they are more concerned about one of the newer stuctures in town?? A little background on the MFPD. They are their own municipality & Chief Yancy is a fine and dedicated public servant. There is also an appointed Board of Trustees, 5 trustees total.
Since the MFPD stopped posting their newsletter in the summer of 2009, it's gotten a touch harder to verify the current trustees, but until further verification, the 2009 trustees were:
Quoting from the MFPD website:

“Minooka Fire Protection District is governed by a five members board of trustees comprised of residents of Minooka Fire Protection District. Many of the trustees are life long residents of Minooka. They are your neighbors and friends. Each trustee is appointed by the Grundy County Board at staggered terms.” They don't name them, so I will.

Dan Roberts – President
Ray Underhill – Vice President
Angie Robinson – Treasurer
Doug Thompson – Secretary
Larry Nelson – Trustee

They are our neighbors. I recognize 2 names specifically. Doug Thompson, his family owns Skinny's. Angie Robinson. Tell me it's not the same Angie Robinson that is a General Manager of Cookies. Skinny's & Cookies.

It's so easy to be ashamed of this little town, but in the same breath, feel proud that this is exposed and all you have to do is copy this link and post it to all of America.

Verified. The trustees remain the same for 2012.

Trustees have certain duties (some of which are fiduciary). These include the duty to:
Carry out the expressed terms of the trust instrument
Defend the trust
Prudently invest trust assets
Be impartial among beneficiaries
Account for actions and keep beneficiaries informed
Be loyal
Not delegate
Not profit
Not be in a conflict of interest position
Administer in the best interest of the beneficiaries

Trustees are generally held to a "prudent person" standard in regard to meeting their fiduciary responsibilities, though investment, legal, and other professionals can be held to a higher standard commensurate with their higher expertise.

A trustee carries the fiduciary responsibility and liability to use the trust assets according to the provisions of the trust instrument (and often regardless of their own or the beneficiaries' wishes). The trustee may find himself liable to claimants, prospective beneficiaries, or third parties. In the event that a trustee incurs a liability (for example, in litigation, or for taxes, or under the terms of a lease) in excess of the trust property they hold, they may find themselves personally liable for the excess.

Its kinda of sad that the town of minooka cares more about keeping old business running and basically playin monopoly in this small town than having 30 plus people getting jobs. This restaurant could be one of the best things that's happened to this town in a while. For once people will come from out of town to get a bite to eat here, instead of everyone here having to drive some place else. I thought this town held themselves hire than resorting to actions of not allowing new business make a good name for themselves and be successful. Well be happy with cookies and your fire hazardous downtown area.

Cookies is a dump and should be torn down and Skinny's is no better. It's a shame this town doesn't want to improve itself and move forward. This town never improves.

I think the criticizem of the town relating to the restaurant is way out of most of these posters comprehension, The county is the one that approves the restaurants fire sytem, also the county health department approves the food and sanitation inspection, The older places in town are grandfathered in and new establishments have to be up to code, I am a fireman in a neighbooring town and understand how most of you sound so frustrated and enjoy pointing fingers hidden behind a computor screen, if you had any balls at all, vote your deligates in office instead of being such inmature morons, all the new people that have been in Minooka for less than 10 yrs, you are really just upset at yourself with your trash neighboors and wannabee hoodlum kids,
