Madison police officer points gun at 12-year-old

There was a close call when a Madison police officer pointed his gun at a 12-year-old reaching at his pants.

I think that there are two shames in this piece of news. One; that we have 12 year old boys playing in a city park with guns (even if they are BB guns) and that those weapons are realistic enough that they warranted the cops being called. What ever happened to a good old fashioned water gun fight? Two; that the headline is "Cop points gun at 12 year old" I think that the cop did exactly what any officer of the law should be expected to do. He was brought to the scene on a call that suggested firearms might be present and the boy DID reach for a gun that looked realistic. I wish the headline would reflect a more realistic portrayal of the situation, rather than suggest to the reader that the cop pulled a weapon on some innocent 12yo boy, which is not the case here.

Even the police will tell you that some pretend guns look so real, they will be mistaken for real guns. Perhaps, parents should be careful in what they let their kids buy!!
