Civic groups are springboards for personal poltical ambition, councilman positions for example. Political power is the motivation for civic group particpation. Class warfare is the means by which cvic groups exploit one group of a community against another, one neighbor against another. Brookhaven Town for example, pays civic groups to function. Civic groups, are de-facto Brookhaven Town political lacky's. Follow the money, civic groups are pawns of councilmen in power at that time; unwittingly doing the bidding of their Brookhaven town masters.
