the parr meadows property is the best location, no homes in the immediate surrounding area, easy access to the LIE which would mitigate traffic from impacting neighborhoods, if it has to go somewhere that's where it should go, for those not sure where the property is, it is on Wm Floyd Pkwy on the west side just north of the LIE

I would suggest the old Boeing facility in Calverton. Massive amount of land, some now being used by new businesses, but not many, and would bring jobs to the people living east as well.

I have a suggestion, why don't the Shinnecocks build the casino on their own reservation which has more acreage than the airport and most other locations mentioned. Let them screw up their own quality of life and leave us alone.

This is not a good thing for Shirley, Mastic residents. Many studies have shown high violent crime rates in communities near casinos. Small communities like Atlantic City has less residents than Shirley-Mastic and very high crime rates. Well over a thousand violent crimes like murders, robberies, thefts, rapes occur in these areas in just a year.

Having a casino will not garentee many more jobs. Maybe 200 jobs at most. That is a drop in the bucket in comparison to the 30000+ residents in our area. Atlantic city's unemployment rate is at 16.9% higher than the national average. The average household income is only 30K a year.

Las Vegas and AC have much more foreclosures than our community , People will be tempted to gamble and waist money.

Let them keep their casino in a more remote area and away from a densly populated community that is struggeling to raise their kids in a safe enviroment. We are already prone to these crimes and its scary enough when your neighbor gets buglurized.

Why are there rumors that our taxes will drop as a result? What gaurentees do we have? D

Using Atlantic City as an example does not fly - that particular area had high crime rates for decades, well before the "boom" of casinos in that area of N. Jersey, so why not look at another "good" example - Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun? Both of those casinos added thousands of jobs to the surrounding areas, as well as high growth rates for small businesses around Mystic, Con./ Vegas has always been a different entity of it's own.

As far as temptation to gamble, why do we have "OTB" here, and not a single complaint? More revenue equals more police / more police equal less opportunity for what you characterize as potential robberies.

Don't use foreclosure rates as an example either, because both Vegas had a huge building boom, that went bust, and Jersey has the highest property tax rates in the country!

You're argument lacks any credible merit - and given the chance to at least talk with the planning board as to what they intend to propose, instead of attempting to kill the idea first, shows an embedded ignorance as to the benefits this type of endeavor could have for the community as a whole. You should at the very least listen to what is being proposed before making a negative opinion based solely on misguided statistics for two areas - you conveniently left out Connecticut. Why?

A) If the indians have land, that is where THEIR business should be constructed/operated.
B) It will help taxes in which ever town it operates. Yes, Brookhaven could use some help-especially around Shirley & The Mastics.
C) There are way too many factors that make the Calabro airport a bad site.
D) Due to its closeness to the LIE,Parr Meadows MAY be a viable location.
E)Shoreham is Better.
...if the town of (Sorry to use this term but it seems it may be back in vogue) Crookhaven really wants it.
F)Calverton is even better.
G) So is Grabreski.
H) Will the "host" area wind up becoming an AC or a Fox Woods? I don't think the area will become another AC. However I do know that many locals will wind spending way too mauch time and money gambling...and everything bad that follows that will become part of our neighborhoods.
I) In closing, if the Island has no choice and must swallow this casion then shove it on existing-vacant land as far away from residents as possible. DO NOT cut down more trees. Do not drop it in the middle of William Floyd Pkwy (surrounded by homes and NEXT TO A SCHOOL, Mr. Lesko.
