The B-52s

Full story: Eureka Times Standard

It's not a huge shock to learn that most of the B-52s lyrics are improvised. Think about songs like "Rock Lobster," or the little "tin roof, rusted" outburst in "Love Shack," and it's almost comforting to know that there was never intended to be logic behind those words.

$75 per ticket. Most expensive ticket in the Center Arts season. Who do they think their audience is?

If you think $75 falls within my price range, please read my column for this week: http://www.times-standard.com/entertainment/c...

Just because I write it, doesn't mean I can pay $75 for it.

@fan: The show was advertised in CenterArts season catalog, which came out, I think, in June? There have been posters everywhere... Those are pretty normal avenues of promotion.

Out of curiosity, what other methods would have made it easier for you to find out about it? I'm sure the school would love to know, as well.

$75? Let's be realistic. This is Humboldt County. Most people here cannot afford that and would rather buy the CD and listen to it in the ca that squander that kind of money to see a has-been band.

@fan: I guess it depends on what radio station(s) you listen to. I know that the stations I'm involved with had the show listed on their individual entertainment guides. I don't know what kind of advertising CenterArts may or may not have paid for.

I wish I could see that low of prices here in Portland. I paid more than that to see Bill Engvall and I am going to pay 150 each to see Guy Fieri. Be it that is for a meet and greet plus being able to be on stage to sample his cooking last night. Long way from the pretzals I bought from him as a kid LOL.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Taurus

Friends and partners aren't behaving as you would like today. They're eager to go their own way, much to your annoyance. In order to get round this you're going to have to ask yourself some tricky questions, such as whether you're trying to control everyone's behavior or whether they're being inconsiderate in wanting to do their own thing. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so maybe you should all release the tension by making it a super New Year's Eve celebration?
