Does anyone know this lady? What school she was teaching at. What bar was she at that night? Who was the male in the car with her?

Hit a man and killed him, fled the scene, then came back 20 to 30 mins later drunk. Would be interesting to fill in the dots.

This is a very tragic. But I do have to ask was he crossing at an intersection or not. If not this is another problem we have in this community. WE should have a fence where the ditch in WF pkwy is. Still doesn't excuse her drinking and driving AT ALL but sadly something like this could of happened even with a sober person so late at night.

I belive the article stated the police belived he was no where near a cross walk when struck, stupid move on his part and he has paid the ultimate price for it.

Although who if not a teacher, a role modle for our child, should know better then to drive while intoxicated. Then flee the scene, thats crazy.

Their are alot of missing details in this very interesting story.

The shirley mastic area already has to many unsightly land marks, including far to many bumbs roaming the streets.

Personally I would hate to see a fence put up, it will look like crap and the skells will just put holes in it or climb it anyway. A better solution would be for the 7th precinct to do their jobs for once and hand out summons for j walking and every other little code broken.

Every nice area has one thing in common, the local police make it clear to the undesirables that they are not welcome. If police have to respond to a call in mastic/shirley area for domestic disturbances at the very least someone should receive a ticket for a fine. Don't bother to respond to the ticket or pay the fine great, send them to jail. do this and the skells will move away.

Sadly the truth is that with the help of acorn and weak representation from our area the brookhaven/suffolk politicians have decided the mastic/ shirley area would make a great dumping ground for undesirables.

It is time for residents in mastic/shirley to take their neighborhood back before it is to late. Critical mass is already being reached in the area, the time to act is now.

Wow what a rant, I'm good for a while now, lol.

Don't be so harsh. This is the media speaking out. The girl probably wasn't even drinking and she was giving someone that did drink too much a ride home. Has nothing to do with the people in Mastic. Because I live in Riverhead does that mean that I either use drugs or sell drugs or both ??? Come on people !!!

You live in riverhead so obviously dont receive the monthly phone calls from the school superintendent warning us of all the new sex offenders living in the area. For what ever reason this usually happens around dinner time.

The accident has everything to do with the people from the area. Every section 8 low life within 25 miles is bussed into the area along with sex offender, and drug addicts. Many from this welfare group also do not own transportation. That is one of the main reasons their is a deli/bodega on every corner of mastic rd excepting food stamps and selling ez widers to toilet paper.

This walking group also tends to cross roads and highways with reckless abandon. This lifestyle/social groups behavior directly resulted in the mans death from the article.

Let's face it folks -the facts are before us and we're doing nothing about it--It is times as such that give rise to vigiliante action by townsfolk and villagers.Even in the old Frankenstein movies the villagers had enough and went after the monsters or culprits with vegeance. The stupidity of local govt is appallling--i will certainly not hesitate to join such a group to once and for all clean Shirley and Mastic..Loook around us --we live at the ocean and the lakes--so much available for the healthy and upper class entertainment if the human waste and slum lords were gone--it's time to act and do something about it ! I say it must start with the slum lords--let's create a committee for Mastic and Shirley --let's go out looking for violations and abuses and report them to a local papers and document the reports with law enforcement (our good old boys and girls at the 7th) for follow-up after that we make our reports avilable to local officials and advise the papers of said sumissions--- C'mon people -something's got to be done !!

I don't know the lady but the man was my brother in law. A decent man just headed home. The question I have is how can any human being leave the scene even if just for 20-30 minutes that time could have saved his life. We will never know because SHE LEFT the scene.

You are right. He may have lived if she wasn't so concerned about her DUI. Now the charges can be higher since she did leave the scene.

I know her and she is a kind, sweet woman who would never intentially do anything cruel or inhuman. We may never understand why she left, other than complete fear and confusion. My question is what was he doing crossing a HIGHWAY in the middle of the night? What was his alcohol level? His life sadly ended, but her life is over.
