There are more people who have them than you know. Already solar generates more than a gigawatt of electric power in this country alone and growing. As the prices come down and more people understand how it works,more will be installed.

You are correct....demand charges cost business thousands of dollars in extra electric bill payments yearly. The utility figures demand rates differently from residential rates. If a business can eliminate even part of these demand charges it will be a large savings.
