Dream on!

Could some of you solar/wind turbine gurus tell me how it's possible to have any of these items without also having a TOTAL electricity producing grid 24/7? It doesn't matter if you produce a bunch of solar electricity during the day because unless you go DC you can't use it during the night. I know about converters and they are real inefficient. Same with wind. If it is cloudy or calm then the power generating grid must be cranked up to cover the entire power needs of the grid. So no matter what you employ to save energy you must always have the same old original system to back the new stuff up. Where are the savings? If the subsidies were removed you couldn't give this crap away. Oh wait, I have a good idea, lets take our food source and use more energy to turn it into fuel then it produces! Oh wait we already do that. Ethanol!!!!!!!!!!

He's the best. I just don't understand why it took 22 years to get him potty trained.

I would not call 95% inefficient .Many inverters are very efficient at converting the DC to AC. The grid is still needed but during the day, you send excess power back to the grid. Many utilities buy back the power you produce. Even if they don't,it's still nice watching the power meter run backwards.

Nothing is 100% efficient, but you can get close. I don't think we're talking about money, just inverter efficiency, and they are getting much better.
