Jen Benson, you acted condescending and pompous towards the audience and your opponent last night at the debate. My hope is that the Shirley cable will play the debate so the voters can see how you act and represent yourself. The only thing you had to lose was votes, and you did!

As I listened to the candidates at the debate last night, I was amazed to hear that Mr. Hayes was/is AGAINST the "no texting while driving" law that went into effect today! He suggested that the gov't should not protect people from themselves, and I believe that, but this law protects us from OTHER DRIVERS and their distractions. It is the most common-sense law imaginable and for someone whose campaign mantra is bring more common-sense to the State House he exhibited very little of it in these comments.

Ironically, while being against gov't intervention in laws such as this, he has no problem with the gov't exerting its power and authority in the medical field by forcing insurance companies to pay for Lyme Disease treatments that are not accepted as standard by the overseeing medical associations. These positions are completely contradictory.

Would the real Kurt Hayes please stand up.

I really hope that the voters a smart enough to see the hollow game that Benson is playing here by referring to Hayes being employed by IMB?
She is trying to fool the voters, a typical desperate democratic tactic.

She is 100% reliant, yes 100%, on her husbands corporate big business employment! She takes that money and that paycheck every bit as much as Hayes takes his. She's at HOME? Right?

Her husband is at work! So Jen Benson's role to allow her husband to work is to, Cook the dinner,
Makes the beds,
Vacuum the floors,
Clean the bathrooms,
Do the Grocery shopping,
Rake the leaves,
Make the lunches,
Drive to the games and all the activities! And all those other things stay at home wives and mothers do! Or is she different?

No, she points the finger, but you have to see through that phony accusation, she probably devotes LESS time than a person like Hayes can!
Anyone who thinks about this for a moment would understand that!
We need experienced business people to run the BUSINESS of Massachusetts, not idealists who just do what their party tells them to do, Benson just obeys her leadership, her record proves that!

That's a pretty sexist statement. You have been watching too much "mad men".

In the real world, 2 working parents are needed to stay afloat, and working women cannot be 100% housewife any more than working men can be 100% househusband.

Do you think Hayes is greeted at the door each night by her barefoot spouse with a dry martiini and dinner on the table?

I asked Rep Benson to help push back against an environmental agenda being forced through Beacon Hill by special interest groups.

... Should have known better on that one.

I found honest support working with other State Rep's living within the Central Mass. corridor.

What really hurt?... I live in her home town.

The other Rep's took time to know me and learned the real facts. They were a big help.... and I don't live in their districts. They voted against the bill.

Yet, we hear to often, I'm for you little folks and will stand up to those bullies.

That sure wasn't my experience.

Go Kurt...

i agree with omg she was very condescending last night.with a tuch of feer monger put in.the statement she made about the possibility of the state haveing to release inmates from the shirly prison.but failing to mention how her and her counterparts on beacon hill will not adress the issue of how meany ILLEGAL IMIGRANTS are in our prisons and how much we are paying to keep them there instead of deporting them.(standard answer from benson is federal problem)personaly i think when it comes to the safty of the residence of ma.and the taxes of mass. residence our ELECTED reps. should see it as a mass. state problem

Last count 156 illegal imigrants in Worcester County jails.$35k a year/person. You folks can do the math, my head hurts.
It's so easy folks. Forget the Fed's. Parole them for time done, put them on a one-way plane out of here.
Let's use the $35k in savings and apply the funds
to support Americans with disabilites.
We all win without seeking for more taxes.
God, I should be a canidate.

I disagree with omg and kevin. When I woman presents herself intelligently and assertively, she is frequently labeled pejoratively, as condescending, or agressive. A man who presents himself in exactly the same way is instead described as bright and bold. She talked substantively and knowledgeably about the issues. He talked in sound-bites.

Intelligent does not fit in the same sentence as Jen Benson. She was extremely aggressive and unprofessional, that is not how I want my rep to be talking to people. The only reason she could answer any questions is because she knew of them, was asked by her supporters and was coached in how to answer them.

I have never watched Mad Men? But thank you, because you have just proved and underlined my argument here. Jen Benson has no more TIME for this job than Kurt Hayes has. Now it just comes down to, experience, business sense and the ability to think independently. On this third point Jen CANNOT do that, she's simply not allowed to. Her legislature dictates her votes, her house leader mandates her position. She falls lock step with business as usual on Beacon Hill, look at the record. Even when it come to illegal immigrants over citizens, she votes as told! How does that help Massachusetts? It doesn't! It is designed by her party to help them get votes and cling to the power that they are now abusing at the expense of tax payers.
Massachusetts is a business, it takes OUR money and spends it! We need it managed properly, Jen Benson is an idealist who has very little fiscal sense or knowledge. Thats precisely why she looks up and asks how to vote on each issue. Her leaders tell her and then she does it. We need someone who listens to the TAX payers! Who puts the people who bear the financial burden of this state first. People who understand fiscal responsibility. Haven't we learned that idealists only have the same old answer, TAXES! bigger government, more government control, and those naughty rich people, better take something from them, lots of poor people will rally behind that idea! It's such a con, they so easily fool you with that ploy! It's always been effective, look how popular Robin Hood was, to this very day! STOP BEING FOOLED PEOPLE, SERIOUSLY.

And what part of that is incorrect? That IS the real world, you might not like it, not PC enough for you, but that is how it happens, perhaps not for you! but I can assure you, this is the way it is!
Stick to the subject, Time and Roles! Try and understand what she said and how misleading it is
Don't get all caught up in silly Political Correctness, try and keep it real!

Of course it's not sexist for a woman to be supported 100% by her husband so that she can pursue political ambitions, whilst pointing the negative finger against an experienced person who also has a job? Or does Jen Benson NOT have another job? As a spouse? Now which one is it? She's trying to fool you, actually she has fooled you because her situation is no different to that of Kurt Hayes, time available wise! Is it? Or do you want to spin that?

I can't believe Rep. Benson wants to implement a 10 cent tax on plastic grocery bags.

Be real Rep. Benson... Times are tough.

Look around, to many folks can't afford to put food into those bags to begin with. I've never seen so many family's depending on food stamps to feed their children.

What's up next on your list of generating additonal
revenue?

Let's see, can you sneak in more fee's to register camping trailers and driver's licences? How about
permits to run a barber's shop.

Did'nt Massachusetts just do that? Maybe one more time for the team in 2011.
more info please

Let's remove the weak minded representatives and senators who go along with EVERYTHING the eternally corrupt House Speaker and Senate President tells them to do.

Illegals? Just fine. Let's have the state feed, house, cloth and provide health care and tuition for these criminals.

Spending? No problem. Every year they spend more and more. And when there's not enough money, we have a TAX problem, never a SPENDING problem.

When you watch as the state ramps up to pass out more platinum benefits to its employees, while you have to cut your families budget one more time, enjoy your staycation for the fourth year, and take a second or third job to make ends meet, do you question your choice of voting for go along empty office holders like Benson?

Remember in November.

Rep Benson wrote a proposal to tax plastic bags.
Hoping to keep them out of land fills.

I don't have the bill number. But Rep Benson didn't want to discuss it when Kurt Hayes mention it up at the Lunenburg debate.

It's on the video. See for yourself.
Or, better yet ask her....
