I'm disgusted with Gary Luca's performance when the vote for chair came up in Ayer, an it didnt go his way.
Here was an opportunity to make a difference, and you wasted our time with dirty politics. If you have some facts, PLEASE put them on the table, otherwise shut up and do your job. The work of the JBOS is too important to be muddied with personal politics. Gary Luca has lost my confidence and my vote.

We have often been at odds with the JBOS and BOS and I don't always agree with Gilles' politics, but I have to agree with you Townie. This looked like Gary was having sour grapes. Luca should rely on his own merits to get heard, not try to bring someone down to try to climb.

I am deeply concerned about what the JBoS is doing.... On July 7 I posted the following in response to a poll on the Nashoba site:

"The current JBoS has no understanding of its role in the redevelopment of
Devens. I bet not one current member has read Ch 498 or the by-law that
created the JBoS. The JBoS is supposed to be comprised of ONE member from
each town, not full quorums of each of the Boards of Selectmen. It has NO
decision making authority: its role was to interface w/MassDev, discuss
issues and report back to the individual BoS of the three towns where
decisions would be made, legally. Now the JBoS seems to be full of itself (no
surprise there given the current make up of the respective BoSes!) and
insistent on making its will the way. Well, Ayer residents can see through
all that and thankfully still have the likes of Frank Maxant, Pauline Hamel
and others to tell us what is really what."

Come on folks. If you care, pay attention and don't let them tell you what to do!

Rick Gilles as chair, kinda like putting the weasel in the hen house, not one decision will be made in the best interest of Ayer, he has way to many conflicts of interest to be put in this position, lets hope it doesn't happen, regional and sharing are one example of a bad idea not in Ayer's best interest

Why is the Ayer BoS determining the chairmanship of the JBoS anyway? They didn't make the decision when Frank was chair, when I was chair (we all know how THAT would have gone), when Chip Guercio was chair, when Phil Crosby was chair, when anyone was chair for that matter. The JBoS always selected its own chairman, it was never done by the other member boards, until last Tuesday. I was out of town when this occurred or would have been at the meeting to challenge them.
Seems to me the Ayer BoS thinks it is omnipotent and can tell others what to do just like it does our own boards, committees and residents. Unchecked power is frightening!

The work of the JBOS is too important to be muddied with personal politics and conflicts of interest resulting in personal gain. Rick Gilles has lost my confidence and my vote.

The sheeple mentality continues - didn't I read that Connie first was in favor of Luca as chair only to change his vote to Gilles when he lost the first round? Pauline is right: why is the BoS deciding who chairs the JBOS anyway?

Cappucci is chair. Gilles & McCreary announced to their Ayer BOS that they won't be attending JBOS meetings into the immediate future.
