You've written an article that brings the same grace and feeling that Edie Clark brings to hers. A beautiful story, beautifully written. Even with a couple of minor errors.... not to worry....(We're the Odells... Edie is originally from New Jersey... though perhaps she was a New Yorker at heart; she is still a closet Yankee fan!)
I hope you get this published more widely... and that you continue to pursue the art of writing -- you clearly have considerable talent. Passages in your story actually brought tears to my eyes...
Now it's your turn to write your own story about the Longleys... Harriet Lyon... Benton MacKaye... and other Shirley Center treasures... Maybe a special story on Shirley Center itself, another of America's treasures...
FYI: The boy whose life was saved was a Tucker... family lived on Benjamin Road near the ski/sports area. And the ice tea is a lemon-orange brew, and one of considerable complexity to make properly.
