Can someone enlighten us on exactly what $750,000 buys us for a "feasibility Study". We've already been told that we need to upgrade the Ayer HS to make this work...so what is this study going to do besides spend our money?

You are certainly correct that we know that we have a facility in dreadful shape and that we need to fix it, but we do want to make sure that we are thorough and responsible in planning the best and most efficient facility possible. This will help us provide a great place for learning at a long term savings to the community.

Beyond that, it is a requirement of MSBA and since we want them to pay for ~66% of the project we need to partner with them and follow the prescribed methodology. When the study is complete we will have the project designs in a state so that we can accurately describe the facility and the projected cost of the project and put that before the town for approval.

The loan for the feasibility study is to pay for the project manager, design firm/architect and due diligence that has to be completed before final plans can be approved. In past years, these would have been part of the project itself, but since MSBA changed it procedure in the past few years this is now a separate procedure.

Thanks, Pat, for yoru continued support of the town and your coutnless hours of volunteer time. I will be attending one, if not both, of the meetings. I have a lot of questions and some personal concerns that I would like info on, or would like addressed, before I can feel good about placing my vote. I look forward to becoming informed of the facts.

Pat Kelly, reference your last para. I have just asked a question in another post, but I'll ask it here as well.
Question. Will this $750,000 include full plans, that will then be reviewed, and perhaps modified, then approved ?, or does it only cover the project manager, design and due diligence with the plans a separate, additional, charge ?. Thanks.

MSBA defines it as a final schematic plan that is sufficient to develop a project scope and budget. It has to meet several requirements on the MSBA checklist including: space allocation, cost effective design, and educational benefits. This schematic/design plan and budget has to be approved by MSBA and then the two communities before the construction phase can begin.
