For everyone who is complaining about poor reporting by the P.O.:
I'm a journalism major at Ship and will say that the P.O. is obviously doing everything they can to try to inform the public. Police cases are cryptic and hard to report because police officers are often reluctant to release information especially in such a case like Dr. Pritchard's. That said, as of 10:39 p.m., the university has not even informed the students. I think what the community should focus on is what a tragedy this is not only to the university but to the communication/journalism department. Being part of the comm/journ tight knit family, this is such shocking and horrifying news to all of us. |

I wish I had gotten on here earlier. I have had an AFGE week. I was laid up for three days with a pulled hamstring, then somebody decided to vandalize my car last night; can't drive it again 'till Wed. O.K., O.K., accept the things I can't change. Family is coming to get me on Mon. to go to the HALL! I miss my old-timers. ODATT |

O.K., I've got to get this off my chest.
We obviously have a major malfunction with the P.O.'s Topix site, but this is really getting, uh, UNCOMFORTABLE, "Shipp professor found, coroner investigating" I feel bad for this family. |
It says the coroner is investigating it and there appears to have been no foul play. Yes he's dead. geez |

Just a suggestion: Go over to the "Pot vs. Booze" discussion and read post #22. You will surely appreciate it. |

Again, I think we are a little of topic, a smidge, really. Shouldn't the focus be how horrible it is for the friends and family of a 45 year old man to have to bury him?
I could be wrong. Ship lost a good professor. My prayers are with the faculty, staff, students, friends and family of Dr. Pritchard. |

Sorry, BGSU ... you're just wrong here. If the coroner is investigating, the person is deceased. It's that simple. No bad reporting. Just slow Franklin Countians. |

I don't know; you might be right here. Problem I'm still having though, is why is the headline remaining the same; That is why I've thrown out the "insensitive" word. Shoot, over the weekend, I thought something was wrong w/the P.O. Topix and the articles were stuck. I do mainly fly-bys because there's so many other things I'm doing. |

I was a former undergrad. and graduate student of Dr. Pritchard's. I was fortunate to have him on my thesis committee.
Yes, it is an extremely tragic fact that he did in fact die last week. His funeral was this past week. By far, he was one of my favorite professors. He was a true advocate for his students and cared very deeply about them. It seemed that while I was in graduate school it was as if he was "searching" for something and struggling. He was a brilliant professor, who touched the lives of many students, coworkers, friends, family, etc. He was one of the few professors that taught more than simply book smarts. Whatever happened, I pray that he is at peace now, and that his family and friends may grieve and heal. |
